All ghosts wear white sheets. That's just what ghosts do. White sheets are good for haunting people and they make the ghosts feel like part of one big family. But one little ghost wants to wear something different. He tries all sorts of things - a bag, a rug, a boot. Can he find the right one?

A colourful picture book from talented debut author and illustrator, Violeta Noy.

I read it to Pre-schoolA aged 2 to 4

The Right One is a lovely story about Roderic the ghost who doesn't want to be like everyone else and wants to be different. This is what first interested me in this book as it sounded such a lovely way to get across an important message for the children about how we're all different and should embrace it rather than try and hide away and look like everyone else. The story is written in a really nice way and is so easy for the children to follow, they were fascinated by what happened to Roderic and the fun and simple yet colourful pictures really helped them understand what was going on. The children enjoyed seeing Roderic struggle to find a suitable new look and they'd giggle at Roderic's choices. The illustrations are beautiful and they really kept the children engaged in the story as they weren't too busy. I particularly liked how all the ghosts had different expressions on their faces throughout the book as it allowed us to talk about how the ghosts might be feeling throughout and getting the children to learn the different emotions and how it's making all the ghosts and Roderic feel. We found the characters were great in this book as they all had their own personalities and looks even though you might assume before reading that they'll all be the same, they're just ghosts, but they're far from that! The Right One is a fantastic read, a perfect non scary Halloween book that the children loved and gives the perfect opportunity for the children to learn that we are all different and maybe we should all be a bit bolder like Roderic and do what makes us happy.

My little girl who is five really enjoyed this! She thought the ghosts were really cute and I loved the moral of the story that being a bit different is ok. Such lovely bright illustration throughout the book!

What me and my little boy loved about this book was the fact this book is different compared to other Halloween themed books it isn't diluted with 'a scary theme' compared to other books. With vibrant illustrations this is a great first-time Halloween story. I loved the fact that it might be teaching Blaine and other toddlers a little something about being true to themselves and standing out from the crowd. Its such a friendly fun book for a toddler. I would recommend this book not only for Halloween but also for children who are starting a new school or class.

It was the cover that originally appealed to me. Well, that and the message behind the book, that it’s OK to be different. The story and the illustrations inside the book did not disapppoint.
The ghosts are so cute- and I love the idea that all ghosts are wearing sheets so as not to show their ectoplasm.
I read this with my daughter (nearly 2) and she couldn’t take her eyes off the pages. There were lots of little details to spot and talk about. We’ve only had this for a few days and we’ve already read it 5 times as she’s picked it up and brought it over to me.

What a lovely book this is. I read it to my son and he really enjoyed it and thought that the ghosts in the story were very cute. I loved the moral behind the story - that it’s ok to be different - and thought that it came across really well and in a very child friendly way. My son loves this book and taken it as one of his new favourite bedtime reading books.

I read it to Catch baby group aged Under 1 to 4

Great illustrations and I love the concept of its ok to be different but slightly to long and had some tricky words in it. I read to a pre schoolers and baby group. We had fun making colourful ghost pictures after. However if I read it to that age again I'd definitely  simplify the language. My nearly 5 year old loved it though!

My 3 year old son likes this book. The illustrations I thought were lovely .

After we finished the story my son turned to me and said I like Roderic and when I asked why he said because he's different and it's good to be different. I think you couldn't ask for a better result from getting the story across to a little one.

This book is so beautifully illustrated with lots of bright bold colours.  My 1 year old liked looking at the pictures as I read it to her.  The story is a good one as it's about belonging when you are surrounded by a large family and strive to stand out and be different and an individual.  I think the author achieves this well and I love it when the little ghost tries on different sheets and clothes and hats!  The only thing I would say is that some of the text is too long and I had to shorten most of it or my daughter would get bored and want to turn the pages.  I think she will engage with it more as she grows up and it will be a favourite at different stages of her development as she does like to pick it out of her book pile and bring it over to me!

Iris was instantly drawn to this book. I believe it was because of the bold, bright coloured covered. She often picks up this book just to look at the front cover.

The story focuses on Roderic the ghost and his journey of self discovery. The book explores the concept of tradition, stereotype and difference. It has a very strong moral undercurrent but it is told in very entertaining and hilarious way. I think children of all ages will relate to the character of Roderic and I think the story reminds us of the importance of accepting difference and embracing who you are.

Iris really enjoys the visual aspects of this book, particularly Roderic's many outfit changes. As her understanding grows she finds the numerous hats he wears more and more funny. As a parent I find this book fun and entertaining and I think the message behind it is very important. It's the sort of book that would work particularly well in a school setting.

This book is all about a young ghost who wants to try a different look. He’s a little tired of the white sheet so attempts to add a little colour into his appearance. His family don’t approve but that doesn’t stop this little ghost. If you’re looking for a halloween read that isn’t scary this is a great pick.

This is a really nice book with a lovely moral, that it’s ok to be different and you should accept others. My daughter struggled to get to the end of the book, but I think that’s a sign of her age (she’s perhaps a little too young for the length of it) rather than a fault of the book. The illustrations are lovely and the pages are good quality paper, making it a book I’m sure we’ll treasure for years.

This book had lovely eye-catching illustrations which made the story feel very lively and was the best part of the book.  I understand the moral of the story was that it is ok to be different but felt the storyline was a little to deep for the age group it was focused at and was rather repetitive.  I would not recommend this as a halloween story book.
