The giant Withers takes us through an imaginative series of encounters with dwarves, a dragon princess, goblins and the evil sorcerer Maugrin - all variously embroiled in a series of exciting adventures, sometimes frightening, sometimes humorous and sometimes both.
Maugrin is getting old and needs to find a new body to house his wicked soul. He selects Withers and sets about tricking him into making the change. The source of Maugrin's power is an ancient book, from the pages of which he can conjure diabolical and terrifying things. Can his will be resisted?
