Understanding Maths is a series of books designed to reinforce skills and knowledge at Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum. Each book focuses on a particular maths topic with explanations and teaching points, exercises, answers section and glossary of terms. Problem Solving develops strategies for solving different mathematical problems: reading and deciphering the question, choosing appropriate operations, spotting patterns, systematic recording of information, and deciding on a solution. There are plenty of examples and practical activities - plus some fascinating facts along the way. The Problem Solving book includes: choosing number operations (addition/subtraction/multiplication/division), inverses and missing numbers, shape puzzles, word problems, money/measurement/time problems and remainders.
