Understanding Science is a series of books designed to reinforce skills and knowledge at Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum. Each book focuses on a particular science topic with explanations and teaching points, exercises, answers section and glossary of terms. Using Materials is full of interesting information about the materials you see around you. It looks separately at different types of material, such as solids, liquids and gases, describing how to investigate them and what you can do with them. The book also explains the differences between natural and manufactured materials, helping you to think carefully about their special features. The Using Materials book includes: materials and their properties, rocks and soils, conductors and insulators, solids and gases.
