This three-stage new edition of this Spanish course for beginners leads to public examinations. Experienced practitioners and users of "!Vaya!" have been consulted and their suggestions have been incorporated into this new edition. It has been written to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and the 5-14 Guidelines. Stages 1, 2 and 3 of "!Vaya! Nuevo" should prepare students for GCSE/Key Stage 4 examinations and Standard Grade. The key features of this course include: a carefully structured progression throughout; meets the need of a wide ability range; fully communicative course with short-term, attainable goals; a wealth of opportunity for fun and creativity, including songs, poems, cartoons, puzzles and games; encourages independent learning, and develops study skills (for example dictionary skills); fully integrated assessment, both formative and summative; emphasis on use of the target language throughout; and a fully integrated information technology package. Stages 2 and 3 of "!Vaya! Nuevo" are based on a long stay in Cantabria.
All the topics and activities are set in an authentic context, and prepare students for such a holiday, whilst giving insights into everyday Spanish life. Each of the 14 unidades explores a different topic, and provides short-term goals and a carefully graded progression. This teacher's book provides: presentation of appropriate methodology; easy-to-use matrix of objectives, language, grammar and revision points; detailed suggestions for exploiting the material in the students' book; additional exercises and suggestions for four- and five-year courses; and transcripts of all cassette material.
