Two Jewish children, Benedict and Elvira, are suddenly orphaned after a pogrom in twelfth-century Yorkshire, England, shatters their contented and comfortable lives. Alone in a hostile world, they set out for Oxford, where they have relatives. Along the way they meet Robin Hood and his men in Sherwood Forest.
