This is a great detective story for younger readers.  Hermelin is such a brilliant detective and Mini Grey uses such wonderful illustrations to draw the reader in. We love the twists and turns within the story; it made us laugh, feel sad and be completely shocked! I'm sure that older readers would enjoy the humour too.

This is a lovely book, full of detail and fun. Hermelin is a mouse who lives on a street where there are many mysteries to be solved, but as he helps his neighbours he becomes the mystery - who is Hermelin? The human beings on the street are both endearing and amusing, my 4 year old particularly likes Lady Chumley-Plumley. Mini Grey's books are always beautifully illustrated, there is so much to find and look at. We really enjoyed the story with its gentle end.

This book was completely lovely. It was nice and long, the illustrations were beautiful and it was not a bit predictable. My daughter enjoyed all the little extra bits she could read, such as newspaper articles and notices. She said " I like that Hermelin is so kind."

Hermelin is a the story of a clever little who loves to help people. My daughter couldn't wait to turn the next page to see what else the detective mouse was getting up to. The illustrations are very detailed and provide lots of opportunity to discuss the story and all its elements, which was great for reading with my daughter because whilst some of the content was difficult for her to read herself, she loved talking about the characters and the story through the pictures.

This is a great book but not one for bedtime in our house as it engages the children so much they ask loads of questions and keep spotting more and more things on the pages!    Hermelin is a very helpful little mouse who solves all sorts of mysteries in ottley street and wins the friendship of a little girl called Emily.    My sons all love this book and ask for it repeatedly. They love discussing the pictures and the 'funny' words like priceless, life savings and type writer!
