Lorenzo, a Venetian glassmaker, lives with his wife and daughter in a palace with beautiful gardens. When his wife gets stung by a bee, he takes his daughter away to live on a rocky island where there are no bees to sting, but no birds or flowers. There he build his daughter a glass garden.
