Pre-school education is expanding rapidly throughout Africa, and "Stepping Stones" has been written to meet the growing need both for early learning books for children, and for supportive resource material for teachers. This book is the first of two "Reading Books" in the series. It teaches pre-reading, pre-writing and early number skills, as well as such important concepts as colour, size and shape. The "Reading Books" offer: pictures for discussion; vocabulary and language in contexts which are very familiar to young children; and an introduction to lette sounds. There are "Writing and Number Books" and a "Teacher's Kit" within the series as well.
