This is a single-volume, two-year course for students working towards advanced level German language examinations. Based on authentic printed and recorded material from post-unification Germany, the course is divided into 22 units. Each unit centres on a topical area and contains extracts from magazines and newspapers. These articles provide a starting point for pair work, discussion, role play, simulation, debate, reports, information-gathering and other tasks that involve real communication in the German language. Formal work is supported through language manipulation exercises. A comprehensive grammar section and index are also included. Accompanying the student's text is a teacher's book and cassettes.
