This is a nice book - and a great one to read if your child is starting school. The pics are great and the book has lots of flaps and cut outs which make it interesting. My family loved it!

We adored Rikki, the little kaiju and have read the story several times since we received it. Rikki has to go to Stomp School and the story tells us about his first day. For my children, it had familiar themes about worry and misunderstanding before going to school. He ends up loving going to school, which also gave reassurance to my pre-school child.
The illustrations are just fab; loads of bright colours and funky cut out pages to add interest. It's easy for a beginning reader to read independently too.
A great story to share before your little 'kaiju' starts school!

Lovely bold pictures which really captures my sons attention. The flaps and cut outs make it interactive. A great story which he's really enjoyed reading and big sister loves reading it to him too and explaining about her school day.

This is a wholly unique book. Perfect for toddlers. Sophie has absolutely loved this book. Rikki the dinosaur (Sophie loves dinosaurs and was roaring the whole way through this book) is building a brick city. Then suddenly the book starts changing with half pages, folded pages (we had to be a little careful not to tear by accident but Sophie managed it just fine). Rikki goes to Stomp school, this then follows more exciting pages with a cut out hexagon and folded secret pages. This story explores Rikkis emotions and him learning how to cope with the other children in the classroom. Painting his building blocks was a great keepsake of the blocks and all the children had fun in bringing them all down, but Rikki still got to show his dad his best ever city with his artwork.
A very lovely social learning book perfect for when Sophie starts her nursery class at school. Very simple but very well done. Sophie loved the illsutrations and comic like layout.

This is a great book, its fun. The dinosaur loves building but when he goes to school. They build a big tower and the little ones knock it down before it's stomp time. But when it is and he gets his turn. It's fun. We enjoyed this book.

An incredible picture book with magical illustrations.
It's a Fantastic story about a little monster RIKKI who loves to build things and his adventures in his stomp school.
My 2 years old daughter who recently started her day nursery adores this book. She loves the cut out and fold out pages so much. I love the little description about all the characters on the front of the book.
A unique story to read ti my little monster.

This is a bright dinosaur happy book that my three year old enjoyed.
Rikki the adorable little kaiju is ready for school but like many children due to start something new he has his worries and apprehensions.
Thankfully he needn't have worried and has a stomping good time.
The colourful illustrations and the dinosaur characters make a great read for my three year old. She was so attentive throughout this story being read and the addition of die cut pages added a nice surprise. She also asked for the story to be read another time which is always a good sign of a good read.
At the beginning of the book there are also facts about the different dinosaurs which feature in the story. Such a good idea.
A fun read.

Nice bright illustrations in a very lively book. We loved the front cover and S wanted to read it immediately. I'm glad it explained what a kaiju is on the back cover as the first time I read it I did wonder! We liked the addition of fold out pages and holes which S loves to unfold, although they do look like they could be Easley damaged by over enthusiastic children! A nice story about an issue I think all kids have, making and knocking down each other's towers!

This is a bright fun book about monsters going off to stomp school. There are lots of cut outs and different shaped pages which my little girl loved. I didn't really know what a kaiju was but it became apparent at the end. The story is on a universal theme - Rikki likes building things and his little brother Torik likes knocking them down. Overall the story is very simple - Rikki goes to stomp school - but it feels like it's been elongated through the book and could actually be a few pages shorter to have more impact - my daughter started to lose interest towards the end after a strong start.

A mixed response here. The illustrations are bold and bright with lots going on and the fold-out features are a lot of fun - although the main fold out page was a bit tricky for little fingers. The overall idea of fitting in at school and having fun without getting upset at not getting our own way is a lovely universal theme. However the storyline gets a bit lost towards the end and the message went over the head of my little one. The characters were a lot of fun, and whilst I loved to see some female monsters, the introductions at the very start of the book were way too advanced for littlies. It felt a bit like this book was trying to play to too wide an audience and ended up not quite working for any of us.

I have mixed feelings about this book.  It follows a monster who is frustrated that his toddler brother knocks down his constructions before he can show daddy. The same thing happens when he starts stomp school.

Whilst we liked the layout of the book with fold out pages, peep holes and so on I felt the actual story was weak and let it down.  The initial pages have a description of each character that I feel is way beyond the comprehension of its target audience and most of the characters are just background characters anyway so only feature in the illustrations not the actual story so I don't really understand why we need background information on them.

Overall I've given 2 stars for the layout because it's a bit different from your average book and my daughter enjoyed that aspect of it but we didn't care for the story.
