I loved the parts that had lots of magic in. The characters were really well described, and I really liked them. The story was really good and I think people that like fantasy and fiction would enjoy this book.

This book is as good as the cover looks. Very magical, full of action and adventure. The book had me hooked the whole way through. I will definitely be looking at other books from the author. Really glad I got to read this book

Thoroughly enjoyable action packed, magical and serreal book.

Nell (the main character) is instantly identifiable and is a character we literally willed on to defeat her foes and get back home safely with her mum and brothers.  Reading this book out loud is defiantly the way to go and both me and Boo become deeply enrgrossed in the story.

The fearless guide to wicked places is dark and it has evil inside the pages but it was fantastic for 9 year old and adult alike.

This book was great! I loved all the magical ideas and adventure, especially the thought of 'inner animals'. I  liked the was that you always knew what was happening, whether it was in the Wicked Places, or in Crypt.

George is my favourite character because he is witty and brave. Rose is also a good character, because I like the idea of somebody who is not afraid of anything. Badger and Pinch were great characters because I would definitely class them as fearless and they always knew how to deal with the worst of things.

The end was definitely my favourite part, because of all the happiness. Everybody was safe once more. I would recommend this to 9+, because it is a bit spooky sometimes.

Absolutely brilliant.
My son (9) borrowed this from the library and once he was done with it, I started reading it. I finished it last night and it has had me gripped.
Often scary, and definitely not for very young children, it is a fabulous fantasy tale unlike any other.
It'll make a brilliant film - wish I could afford to buy the movie rights ;-)
I'd recommend for 9+ years, but boys, girls and their Parents will love it!

A brilliant book. Nell is laughed at and called mad because she has the ability to see things that other people can't. However, when her mum is transformed into a bird by witches, she has to put her ability to the test. With Badger, a fearless traveller who also possesses the ability to see things others can't, she embarks on a journey to find the powerful Ravenhead, change her mum back, and destroy the Dark Daughters.

This is a must read for anyone with an active imagination and who loves to get lost in the world of mystical, magical stories. It was an easy read for my 10 year old grandson and he enjoyed the story and the characters.

I was so excited to read this - the beautiful cover and the promises of adventures in lands strange and wonderful drew me straight in!
I would recommend this for readers aged 9 and up, especially those who have previously enjoyed Nevermoor as these two books really reminded me of each other in their tone and the fantastical creatures and contraptions in the worlds.
There are moments of menace, so know the child you are reading/ recommending the book to, but I loved how the main character handles them and the familial bonds throughout.
A magical look at the worlds of dreams and nightmares!
