I read this to my 2 year old son, Charlie. He liked the story and particularly loved the illustrations. This was the first time I'd read a version of Jack & the Beanstalk to him and I was surprised at the introduction of a giantess into the story, although it was a nice addition. The language the author used was also good - rumbling tummies and the giant stomping really brought it to life.    Charlie loved the illustrations and pointing out the cow, giant and bread and asking what things were.

The story is a well known classic. The words are big and easy to read. The words are animated to make it fun for children. The illustrations are wonderful and help to describe the story. Fantastic book!

I've read this book with my 2 and 6 year old, and my 6year old has read this on his own. The children enjoyed this, as they have a couple of jack and beanstalk books, but this story was slightly different, so my 6year old liked that. This version of the story featured a giantess who feeds Jack, and hides him when her husband comes home. I liked at the end of the book, it gives you some information about the story. Mentions the date of the oldest version of jack and the beanstalk, and where the saying fi fo and fum is from. The illustrations are lovely, bright and colourful. This version wasn't as long as the other ones we have, but for my 2year old that was a good thing, as with her age, long books don't tend to get finished. A lovely book we all enjoyed.
