Think before you leap! Lemmings look alike, they-sound alike and they act alike. So if one jumps off a cliff, the others will jump right after him ...Except Larry. Larry's very independent-minded and he won't follow his fellow lemmings blindly to their doom. But can he teach them to use their brains and stop making terrible group decisions? Joe Briggs has created a wonderfully funny, quirky tale about doing your own thing, while Nicola Slater's illustrations capture all the humour and pathos in Larry's situation.

We all loved this book, it was a nice surprise it being a hardback aswell. My son realy enjoyed it and took a good message from it that you shouldn't just copy what everyone else is doing.

I love this book! It's exactly what I want to teach my daughter: to think for herself! And the message is spot on for little ones. The lemmings are adorably illustrated and Larry is easily recognisable amongst his lemming friends with his crazy outfits. The puffins, seals and polar bears are equally cute. One of the things that I like in picture books for younger readers is when the action takes place against a plain or simply background as it really allows little ones to focus on the main events of the story and this book is great for that. Another interesting element is that much of the story is told through speech bubbles, which you don't see that often in picture books for younger readers. This sees particularly appropriate in a book that's message is about thinking and speaking out for yourself! All in all this is a well-thought out picture book with adorable characters and a message that resonates with readers of all ages. It's quirky, cute and totally brilliant!

My daughter and I enjoyed this book. It has a good message about being yourself and not following the crowd. It's an important message for children to learn at a young age, and it was done in a humorous and entertaining manner. It was a simple book, but that makes it good for toddlers and preschoolers. It's a good introduction to this topic.

This is a brilliant book, my 4 year old has been quoting it all weekend! Larry the Lemming (but should lemmings even have names if they are all the same...?) wants to be different from all his friends but his friends don't understand why he would want to be different until one day Larry being different helps them all. This is one of the best books I've seen about being different, it doesn't have a 'worthy' feel, it's just really funny and smart. The illustrations are fabulous too, feel a bit retro but also cosy. Good book for colder months too. Plus my son now wants to learn about lemmings, puffins and seals.

My 5 year old loved this book. She thought the lemming was ever so clever because he didn't just do what his friends did, but what he thought was right. She was really able to connect the story to her life. Well written, well illustrated and very good quality.

This is a good quality hard back book, the story of a lemming who doesn't want to follow the others. My little boy laughed all the way through this book, was a really fun read.

My 3 year old loved this book, he really liked the illustrations and there is plenty to look at and point out for children who cant yet read. The story is very good, we encourage our son to be what he wants to be, but having it in story format really reinforces it. It helps that the book is funny too and we could have a good laugh at Larry whilst still remembering the point of the story. The hard back book also made it feel extra special. Recommended.

Read this to my 4 year old, lovely message about being yourself and not following others. Its very similar to Oliver Jeffers' The New Hueys though, which we already own, which is why I haven't given it a 5

I liked this book. It was very funny when the lemmings were running off the cliff and Larry was shouting 'NO!' I liked it when Larry was being different to the others. (The silly hats and glasses.) It would be very boring if everyone was the same.
