This is a beautifully illustrated book both my children love looking at the pictures, my eldest finds it easy to read herself which is good, the story takes the children on a mini adventure which takes a very funny twist, what a lovely book for all ages xx

My daughter really liked this book. As she is just over two years old she  recognised the 'storytime' concept and liked the bear and re-in acting the 'Roar' etc.
I would definitely recommend for younger children aged 2 & 3.

Initially I found the storyline was a bit bland, it wasn't until we got to the part where we found out the bear was actually missing from the book of goldilocks and the three bears that both myself and my son became more interested in the book and it was from that point that I felt it was a really lovely story for young children. It is a lovely colourful book though and one I feel will get read again. A nice bedtime story.

Captured my very nearly 5 year old's imagination perfectly and led to good discussions about other book characters. MIght be a tricky concept for younger kids to fully grasp, but the pictures would draw them in anyway.

A very fun book, with great illustrations. The class are waiting for miss merryweather to come read there story, but she’s late. When they find footprints and follow some fun clues, they find a bear and he decides to read them a story. But where did he come from, when miss merryweather returns that’s when you find out. My little boy loves a trip to the library and really enjoyed this book.

The wordplay in the title was an instant hit with my son who decided immediately that he was going to read it to me - a first! We liked the gentle build up of the story and the 'twist' at the end. My five year old found the story and illustrations highly amusing and liked imagining other stories which could come alive. He's also keen to take it in to show his class as their library has just been revamped...(he can live in hope of a bear visiting!).

We adored reading 'The New LiBEARrian'. It's a lovely mystery for younger readers. My girls adored trying to work out who the new librarian was and spotted clues around the page.  The twist at the end caught us all by surprise and really added an extra layer of enjoyment to the book.

My 5 year old enjoyed reading this story to me. The story has a lovely twist part way through which helped the story keep her attention. Lovely illustrations throughout the book too. Lovely as a bedtime story too :)

This is a lovely story, suited for 2 to 4 year olds. I read this to my 5 year old granddaughter who enjoyed it and was able to read along with me but my younger 4 year old granddaughter was completely enthralled by the story and the pictures. It is beautifully illustrated and at a pace that keeps youngsters interested.  I recommend this book.

We always love a good story set in a library and this did not disappoint!  The mischievous bear appealed very much to my son, and I loved the bedraggled librarian having just tackled a lava overflow!  My favourite spread is the children running through the shelves but shown as different worlds like space, the sea and an airport - libraries are truly portals to exciting places!  Alex Willmore's illustrations are fab - we particularly loved the Bear, and the mystery element to the story is very engaging!

Lovely book with a great story line and twist along the way. We just started visiting the library and each time the children wonder if a bear will be there waiting to surprise us. Definitely got the 3-4 yr olds talking about it at home.

The children are waiting for story time in the library but there is no sign of the librarian coming to read to them. They go off on an adventure to find her but find some paw prints and some honey before discovering the new liBearian! They ask the bear to read them a story and then realise that the bear is actually Baby Bear from Goldilocks and the three bears. He has escaped from his story!

A lovely magical book which shows how wonderful children's imaginations are, and how much libraries inspire them. The characters leaving their stories is quite a tricky concept so I think this book is perfect for age four and over.

A very cute picture book. My son liked it, but was not particularly taken with the story (perhaps a little old for this type of book now). However, he was very enthusiastic about the illustrations on the pages where the children are running through the bookshelves. 'I like the pirate octopus. You should be able to find boats pictures with the boats stories, planes with the planes stories, watery pictures with the sea stories....' (in libraries that is).

The pictures is this book are lovely and an instant hit with my little boy. As other reviewers have said we initially found this book a little bland but the twist of the missing bear was a nice idea. Not a firm favourite yet but we'll received.
