This book has been published in memory of Steve Hawkes, who died in 2011, (from complications related to Multiple Sclerosis). Written by his sister Sue, proceeds from its sale will be donated to MS Charities. Sue created many of these stories 40 years ago as a way of getting her, (then) two young boys to bed and off to sleep! However, it wasn't until many years later that, persuaded by Steve's twin sister Liz and other family and friends, she committed twenty-four of these imaginative tales to paper. Her family arranged for them to be published as a complete surprise for a very 'special' birthday! These stories are suitable for reading to the very young or as independent reading for older children. The stories lead young readers into the every-day lives of Gladys the Blue Whale's and Sammy the Tiny Elephant's good deeds, on to Mark 'Losing His Shadow' and Ossie the Owl's 'Trip to Hospital'. Then into the mysterious world of 'The Magical Glasses', a 'Melting Village', (made of chocolate!) and the fantasmagorical 'Land of the Backwards People', (they even speak backwards!), who learn to play football. There are 'Angels' who polish 'The Stars'.
We see Val struggling without her beloved technology and the pitfalls of living on your mobile phone! Some characters learn very valuable 'life' lessons.
