This broadsheet is part of a series of reading tests which seeks to meet the increasing need for continuous monitoring of reading progress throughout Key Stages 1 and 2. The test can be used separately, with selected year groups, but is most informative when used annually to provide an ongoing measure of attainment. The combination of text and illustration seeks to make the test motivating and accessible to children across a wide ability range. Standardized scores and reading ages are provided for each year group. Additionally, "progress norms" makes the test particulary suitable for continuous year-on-year tracking of individual progress relative to a child's previous performance.
