Jingle Time combines learning with fun, and children love it! This book provides a dip-in selection of jingles - rhyming songs - which can be used as a stimulus with young children (ages 4-8) for many kinds of learning. These include developing listening skills - children repeat the rhymes and act out the storylines, individually or in groups; learning about others' lives and experiences, and relating this to their own world; developing memory skills through repetition and rhythmic awareness, which helps both reading and spelling; building performance skills, perhaps for parents' evening or assembly presentations; extending language and vocabulary; giving children freedom to work on expressive movement - jingle actions involve just using their own bodies, not other apparatus or gymnastic skills; building sequencing skills - remembering verses of longer jingles and retelling the storylines.
Each jingle has accompanying notes for teachers - but children often have their own ideas too. Music scores - for piano and guitar - are also provided, so that children can sing along or play percussion.
