The PREP series includes an exciting range of colourful story charts, text charts and storybooks that introduce learners to reading and writing skills. The materials have been tested in classroom in both rural and urban areas and provide good support for outcomes-based learning programme. The lively story charts are for whole class or group teaching and consist of full colour picture charts and matching text charts. Each set of charts has a set of teacher's notes with suggestions for teaching beginners and more advance readers, as well as suggestions for bilingual reading lessons. The text charts are divided into three difficulty levels and are available in all the official South African languages. The teacher's resource books, reading and writing in junior classes and language and learning in junior classes, offer a variety of ideas on how to teach reading and writing in the foundation phase.
