"Understanding Mathematics" will empower learners to become mathematically competent and support teachers in developing their learning programmes. The learner's guide ensures that the mathematics outcomes are appropriately developed. It is organised into 11 programmes. The teacher's guide will assist in developing a grade 6 mathematics learning programme based on the learner's guide. It provides guidelines for each programme in the learner' guide, including outcomes, integration activities and assessment strategies. The activity book (for the intermediate phase) can be utilised in a variety of ways; namely, for background material on programme organisers, additional integration activities, consolidation and practise for learners who need support or extension activities for learners who need the challenge. This allows the development of a differentiated learning programme that is tailored to the learner's individual needs.
