Bree is an ordinary girl living in a Martian city where everyone dreams of going back to Earth. With her failing grades, she is amazed when she is chosen for a mission to Earth, a rare honour usually kept for the highest achieving pupils. Why her? But there are terrible shocks ahead. The Earth has been lost - the last war created ruthless genetic weapons that have overpowered their creators. Always under attack, in the ruins of Cardiff, amongst its wildlife, and at the Museum, Bree finds more and more proof that she can't trust anyone. When she starts getting strange messages from a voice only she can hear, whose side is she really on? Home or Earth?

I read it myself (an adult)

Set 1000 years in the future, the residents of Mars send missions to Earth looking for resources and answers. One student who is selected, Bree, is different from the others. Someone is communicating with her. Who is it and who can she trust?
I am a huge fan of teen sci-fi drama. I loved The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Reckoning and Jewel series. Alien Rain is just as good as the best of these! I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. Clever, well written and thought provoking, this is not just a book for kids!

I also loved the whole Cardiff connection, having lived there myself. If you haven't, it won't affect your enjoyment.
I have now passed it on to my 13 year old to read.

My mum actually read this book to my brother, he has dyslexia.  I listened as well.  We all enjoyed the story But we had to read it when my sister wasn't about because she would have been a scared. I don't know if the books that scary or if it was mum's voices.
A girl called Bree is selected to go on mission to earth from where they live on Mars.  When there she connects to an ghost from the end of the world. She finds out the truth from the lies that the government have been telling everyone and has to work out what is the right thing to do.
It has spooky bits, and deadly creatures and although it's far fetched it's great sci-fi.

This book is set on earth after a war which wrecked it. Some people come from Mars where they have been living to do some archaeological digs and try to discover the generic code of some pests called Dragonmansks, which have been destroying the planet. They want to find their weakness and kill them.
I like this book because it was full of action and about a different subject to the ones I normally read
I think it would be suitable for children age 9 plus

This book is set the future where humans live on mars, they do missions on earth to learn about the past and these man made monsters that now live there. I really liked the main character Bree and did enjoy the story. I found that the book was quite difficult for me to read and follow and think it may be better for children a bit older. I would recommend for 11+

I won this book for Caitlin who is 9, and she didn't like the content. For her, it was too far fetched and unbelievable.
She may try to read it again when she is older.
