This interactive set of DVDs and accompanying manual instructs general and special education students and teachers about key concepts related to early literacy. Tested and refined with more than 3,000 pre and in-service general and special educators, "MAP" is an electronic textbook that can be used either in a classroom or by an individual. It can also be used for professional development. It covers the major aspects of early literacy, including phonemic and phonological awareness, vocabulary development, and fluency. The course with all of its related activities takes approximately 45 hours to complete. Users can pick and choose which sections they want to use, or teachers can structure an entire course around the textbook. It is narrated and includes instructional materials and activities and video clips from respected professionals (for example, Reid Lyon, Ginger Berninger, Louisa Moats). This course covers much of the same material as "Speech to Print" but presents it in an interactive format with narration and live clips from reading experts.
The CD-ROM outlines all of the course material and gives the reader additional information about each slide/screen, to facilitate all types of learning.
