The Primary Checkpoints series is designed to provide ready-made stimulating activities. Familiarises students with a variety of assessment formats, such as, NAPLAN* Thematic units of work covering areas of the curriculum such as reading; language conventions and numeracy to provide students with solid and relevant practice towards assessment tasks at the appropriate Primary level. Each unit of work contains: * a text type, based on a theme that is relevant to the age and ability level of the student * reading comprehension * language convention * numeracy including mental arithmetic questions and problem solving Each of the units also includes motivation or encouragement pages in which students complete tasks related to other curriculum areas such as: * science * geography * history * health * nutrition and fitness * social issues Four Checkpoint Units to be be completed in a 'test-like' or as a self-assessment activity.
