Named after a housing project in Chicago, this curriculum has been researched with children, teachers, and families attending a Head Start (preschool) program in that neighborhood. This book focuses on building vocabulary and pre-literacy skills as well as using language to reduce violence in the classroom. It contains over 40 lesson plans spanning the entire school year, filling each day using weekly themes and recurrent activities. Parents are encouraged to get involved in the program and help foster their child's language development.
