Perfect for readers of 7-9, Cinders & Sparks is a fresh, funny and fabulous take on Cinderella, for everyone who loved Frozen and Shrek.

A magic girl. A talking dog. Let's get this party started . . .

Cinders lives a boring life with her selfish stepsisters and mean stepmother. So when her wishes start magically coming true it's a surprise to say the least.

Then Cinders meets her fairy godmother: she's magic, she can fly, and she's called . . . Brian.

Soon, Cinders finds herself heading to the glamorous ball at the King's palace. But Brian is NOT very reliable and Cinders is NOT very good at magic. Now her life isn't boring at all - it's total chaos!

Lower KS2 children are going to love this reimagined version of the Cinderella story. Cinders loves being outdoors and getting dirty, she isn’t on social media and has no interest in marrying the prince. One day the magic starts, and chaos follows. With the inclusion of Brian - the godmother, Sparks - the talking dog and many other traditional fairy tale characters, this adventure is hilarious. With the ability to granting her own wishes - quite unsuccessfully - Cinders finds herself having to flee the palace. So instead, together with Sparks, she sets of on an adventure.  I am really excited about sharing this in school and I  am already looking forward to the second book.

Cinders & Sparks is a great twist on Cinderella, If you love Fairy tails, I would recommend this book.
It's fresh and modern. It is aimed at girls 7 to 9, but I think even boys would approve of this book.

This book was amazing. It was about a little girl called Cinders and she has a dog called Sparks. She has a fairy godmother called Brian and 2 step-sisters. She also has a step mother. Her real mother is a fairy and her dad is sad when she mentions her. The illustrations were fabulous! I think the funniest part was when she went to the ball and she saw that everyone, apart from her, was wearing a powdered wig - but there were loads of really funny parts. I would recommend it for children aged 7-11 years old. (Chloe, aged 9)

Just finished reading this book and I really enjoyed it. Showed my class it earlier and already have a waiting list to borrow! Perfect for 6 to 9 years. A lovely fairy tale story with a twist. Easy to read and short chapters. Lovely illustrations and a good length. Really want to read the next  one now as the ending suggested a sequel is coming soon! Interesting characters and an adventurous, fun storyline!

Who needs a fairy godmother to make your wishes come true when you can just do it yourself.. Cinders and Sparks is Cinderella with a fantastic twist! Because Cinders will go to the ball, but nothing will go to plan...

Refreshingly funny and full of magic, adventure (and cake!), Cinders and Sparks will be enjoyed by boys and girls alike.

Can't wait for book 2!

Wow what a fabulous modern version of the traditional tale. My children loved talking about the variations in the story and the things they loved about the characters. The fairy godmother Brian really made us smile. The chapter sizes were manageable, the illustrations are we fab and the text size perfect . We look forward to reading the next story. My youngest daughter is very keen to share the book with her class who have been studying traditional tales.

This book is a great re-imagining of Cinderella. Cinders doesn't fit in with the prim and proper society of her stepmother and stepsisters but wants to see the palace. When the time comes for the magic, she's the one who ends up making it happen. With no idea why she has these powers or how to control them. It's a great take on the story that leads to many questions. I won't spoil it by answering them, but it's great to see the answers develop. My daughter is about halfway through and is eagerly asking to keep reading to find out. She particularly loved how Cinders loves doing everything, including reading, outside. This is a fun book that is setting up for at least one more installment. I will definitely be getting it when it comes out.

There is some illustrations in the book.I liked it when Cinders met the fairy godmother because she learnt to do magic. I didn't like it when Cinders went through the jungle and heard some creepy voices. The book made me feel excited. I would describe the book as an adventure. The characters were all very nice. i have given it 4 stars as I liked the story but it's not my favourite book in the world. I liked that it was about magic. I think the book is perfect for 7 year olds like me

What a great twist on a classic story. We particularly loved the fact that this was a modern independent version of the Cinderella character who can get things done for herself. A great read.
