Join Toby the Bison in this fact-filled adventure as he explores the Ice Age Tundra and meets some of the giants that roamed its icy surface. Ten-thousand years ago, the Earth was in the grips of what Paleontologists call the Last Glacial Period, but what you and I have come to know as the Ice Age. The inhabitants?of this frozen landscape lived in some of the coldest conditions the earth has ever experienced. But before these giants grew to their great size, they were young and, like Toby, very, very inquisitive. Toby and the Ice Giants is a wonderfully illustrated story that delivers digestible facts about the Earth's historic inhabitants. Share in Toby's lively curiosity, experience the danger of the polar climes and meet some larger-than-life characters on the way.

Read to a child aged 4
Toby and the Ice Giants 9781909263581

This book was enjoyed hugely by myself and my 4 and a half year old son. The illustrations inspired awe in Ted - he especially loved the size comparisons and the characterful expressions on the ice giants which allowed him to determine and interpret the plot himself with no reading ability yet. Plenty of facts and figures throughout for any historian in training to enjoy and Ted warmed hugely to the main character. We would definitely recommend this book to any child interested in the past and the animal world

WOW what a fantastic book   My little boy loves this story, it is now a firm favourite   He has learn all of the 'ice giants' names and really enjoys hearin all of the facts about them.   He even enjoys the page at the end of the book about the ice giants tiny did not meet and likes to imagine what Toby would have thought if he met them.  Thank you for choosing us to review this book

This is a brilliantly illustrated book and is full of facts. I think this book would be great for older children as is soo detailed and full of facts. I can't wait to read it again when I'm older and learn more.   This book would make a great present.

Toby is a brave young bison who decides to go exploring. He encounters many other Ice Age animals and learns all about their different strengths. Toby is like many toddlers - fearless and curious! Will he know when the right time is to return home to his family?!!  Each animal that he encounters is accompanied by a list of facts. This book is perfect for providing a starting point for information on the ice age and allows an opportunity for further and more detailed learning as the child is ready. Great combination of drawings, story and detailed facts!

Toby the bison lived in the Ice Age tundra, and he decides to go and meet the ice giants, so we join him on his adventure where he meets some of the giants that lived on the planet.  My 2 year old and 6 year old enjoyed this book. The illustrations were brilliant, but we loved the fact that there was a little story where we followed Toby's adventure, which my daughter enjoyed, but there was also facts on each page about the different animals that lived many years ago, which my 6 year old loved. We learned lots of new things, we learned about animals we didn't know about. There was danger, adventure, and lots of facts to digest; an interesting read. A great book for the whole family.
