This is the second colour illustrated children's book in the Henratty Mortimer series based on meerkats. There are 32 amazing illustrations in total. Henratty, Lyndi Lou, Jack and Oscar are the main characters and this story really depicts the different characters and is a tale of mystery, magic and a little romance too where the meerkats have to do some detective work in order to break a spell. Each meerkat definitely makes a contribution to solving the mystery and is very brave. It is certainly a story full of adventure that should appeal to children as well as adults. The books are written with the perspective of engaging both child and adult so that both parties enjoy the book. The wonderful illustrations also capture the true essence of this mystical tale and really make the book come alive; you only need to look at the front and back cover and you are already drawn in by the book.
