Long ago in the deep ocean, there lived ...one smart fish! He wasn't the biggest and he wasn't the boldest, but he was the cleverest. What this smart fish wanted more than anything else was to walk upon the land. But everyone knows that fish can't walk ...can they?

We really enjoyed this very clever picture book. It introduces children to the theory of evolution in such a simple and understandable way. I'm sure the book can be used as a way in to this difficult concept with older children too.

This was a great book. When we chose it in the library, I hadn't realised that the main theme is the theory of evolution. My daughter didn't get the ending entirely, but it was a great first introduction. She really enjoyed looking at all the different types of fish, and liked that it was one of the more fancy fish that was the cleverest. The last page is a brilliant illustration.

This is a good introduction to the theory of evolution for the children.  I'm not sure how much of it they take in but it is an interesting and amusing story for them all the same.  Although be prepared for tricky questions if they do get it....accompanied by lots of lovely illustrations too.
