The story is told through the eyes of a puppy called Fearless Fred who lives in London. His adventures begin while he is trying to find his family who are out shopping. He manages to get out of his house through a cat flap and finds himself on the city streets of London after finding a little gap in the fence. Fred's walk is illustrated with detailed views of significant places in London. He talks to the cat at 10 Downing Street, gets on a bus, sees Big Ben and eventually gets into Buckingham Palace and meets Prince Benjamin and Princess Alice who are the Queen's corgis. He helps them catch a robber, and is awarded a medal for his bravery by the queen and hence forth will ever be known as Fearless Fred.
