Fourteen-year-old Helena goes to stay in a remote seaside village. She becomes involved with the local amateur dramatic company. When she hears about the bomb that landed on the village during the Second World War, Helena realizes that the actors are the ghosts of the war-time cast, returning to put on the play the bomb interrupted.
