This entertaining, illustrated collection demonstrates how different kinds of writing - lists, instructions, diary entries, cartoon strips, news reports, recipes and letters - can be used to tell stories. It is hoped that many of the pieces included will inspire children to create their own versions. The material - by authors such as Tony Mitton, Gina Douthwaite, Robin Mellor and Wes Magee - has been specially selected for 7-9 and 9-11 year olds (Years 3-4 and 5-6 of the National Curriculum). Some pieces are published here for the first time.
