Mangas have been around for hundreds of years, making readers laugh, cry, go on adventures vicariously through their courageous and magical characters!

Mangas are a lot like comic books, originating in Japan in the 1800s and spanning from adventure, comedy and romance all the way to detective, fantasy and horror genres. And very much like comic books, they are a great way to get reluctant readers into books, thanks to the visual stimulation offered on each page, as well as the huge choice! Over the years, mangas have reached the West too, making readers fall in love with characters across the globe. Many mangas have even hit screens, becoming well known 'anime', the TV show cartoon version of mangas. They became so popular that fans of anime shows begun reading their original mangas, too!
