Adam Baron, author of highly-acclaimed children's debut Boy Underwater, shares his Biggest Fear
My biggest fear when I was younger is a bit embarrassing but I’ll admit it: dogs. Big ones, small ones, thin ones, fat ones, I used to be petrified of them. Apparently we had a crazy German Shepherd when I was two, which I don’t remember (thankfully). It probably barked like fury at me and that put me right off canines. I’m much better now (though I’m still a bit nervous when a pooch bounds towards me in the park). I have my wife to thank for it. Her family had a collie when I met her and, after initial terror, I got to really like her. Her name was Honey and I actually rescued her once when we were hiking in the fog. She got her head stuck in a fence and I found her and set her free. I think that’s why my wife decided to marry me, actually, so it’s good to overcome your fears!
