The 13-Storey Treehouse
Author: Andy Griffiths Illustrator: Terry Denton
My son read this when he was around 8 years old and I wanted to encourage him to read longer books than the 'easy readers' he was used to. The quirky style, hilariously unrealistic storyline and many illustrations really appealed to him. My 7 year old is now reading it and, being a fan of Tom Gates style books, is excited to have discovered this new series. A brilliant book to read to your child, or for them to enjoy alone. Definitely recommend.

The LEGO (R) MOVIE 2 (TM): The Awesomest, Most Amazing, Most Epic Movie Guide in the Universe!
Author: Helen Murray
I received this book for my 11 year old who is a huge Lego fan, although it was actually enjoyed more by my 7 year old. They both loved the quizzes, and were inspired to build by the fantastic quality photos throughout. My younger son enjoyed reading about the characters in the film, although my older son was not so interested in the descriptions, and would have liked there to be more building suggestions/ideas included. Perhaps more easy to follow for those who have already seen the film.

I love Tom Gates. The illustrations are great, I actually recommend it to my 7 year old brother. I would rate it 7+. This book is one of the first thick books I read and I loved it because it has a nice font and is humorous. I like the part where buster gets stuck in the window.
