The LEGO (R) MOVIE 2 (TM): The Awesomest, Most Amazing, Most Epic Movie Guide in the Universe!
Author: Helen Murray
I received this book for my 11 year old who is a huge Lego fan, although it was actually enjoyed more by my 7 year old. They both loved the quizzes, and were inspired to build by the fantastic quality photos throughout. My younger son enjoyed reading about the characters in the film, although my older son was not so interested in the descriptions, and would have liked there to be more building suggestions/ideas included. Perhaps more easy to follow for those who have already seen the film.

Eliot Jones Midnight Superhero
Author: Anne Cottringer Illustrator: Alex Smith
My sons loved this book, which has humorous, engaging illustrations and an exciting storyline as Elliott performs his various rescues. The text is rich in vocabulary which will stretch those older children who still love picture books and are not quite ready to move on to chapter books yet. Perfect for little superhero fans too, as it takes a quirky approach to a subject that has been well covered by so many other books. A brilliant book, lovely to share.

Callum's Incredible Construction Kit
Author: Jonathan Emmett Illustrator: Ben Mantle
This is one of my boys' all time favourites. We used to regularly borrow it from our library, and even bought it when the library had a sale to clear out old stock! The story line is amusing but the pictures even more so. It tells the tale of a boy who receives a construction kit (not dissimilar from a few available on the market currently) and he just keeps collecting more of it and using it for very real purposes that benefit all his family. Wonderful for budding engineers or just boys who love building. The surprise ending has wonderful detail which my boys poured over for ages. Brilliant entertaining book that many families will relate to.

Ninja Kid: From Nerd to Ninja
Author: Anh Do
I just picked this book up from our local library 'new books' collection and I'm so pleased I did. I read a chapter or two a night to my seven year old son who is a fan of anything ninja. Its a fun book to share and he was keen for the next installment each night. The fun fonts make the book appealing to him and there is just the right amount of text on each page. The amusing illustrations brought it all to life and our favourite character was Kenny who made us laugh out loud. The cliffhanger ending has left us impatient to get hold of Ninja Kid 2. Will review soon!!!

Farmer John's Tractor
Author: Sally Sutton Illustrator: Robyn Belton
My boys both loved this book when they were at nursery and KS1. The story moves at an exciting pace which kept them eager to turn the page, and the regular rhyme was lovely for them to join in with. The pictures are beautiful and realistic, and my boys were keen to find out what would happen to the family who needed help. Good for seeing things from other peoples perspective too, as Farmer John is at first oblivious to the family's difficulty and my boys wanted to shout for him to turn around!
