Book pages Gruff the Grump
Gruff the Grump
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This book is about a bear called Gruff, who was very grumpy. Gruff meets a rabbit who wants to try and rescue all the stars she finds fallen from the sky, and she could do with Gruff's help. Gruff doesn't want a friend, but the rabbit doesn't give up. It is a lovely story and beautifully written, exploring unlikely friendships and the importance of friendship, with lovely illustrations.

Book pages Squash and a Squeeze
Squash and a Squeeze
MicahW read it aged 6
An old man helps a lady whose house is too small by getting her to take all her animals inside her house, so it's really small, and then she realises it was a fine size before the animals were in it. It's a funny story, not too long and a rhyming text. I read it on my own with no help needed. I read it to my 2 year old sister who enjoyed it as well. It's quite simple, with repetition, so good for little ones too. Great bright illustrations by Axel Scheffler.

Book pages The Person Controller
The Person Controller
MicahW read it aged 6
Fred and Ellie are twins, and they are into the same things, most of all video games and they are very good at playing them. They aren't really good at anything else. They meet the Mystery Man, who sends them a video game controller, like they have never seen before. When the twins find out what it does control, it seems like the answer to all their problems.  Its funny, fast paced with lots of action. An interesting read and I loved the illustrations. There are lots of short chapters, and it will appeal to both boys and girls, and you can relate to the twins. It was exciting, and I didn't want to put it down

Adventures Around the Globe: Packed Full of Maps, Activities and Over 250 Stickers
MicahW read it aged 6
I really enjoyed this book. I love information books where I learn new things, and this was full of fun facts. It was very entertaining. There were cool facts and great pictures. I really liked this book, because as well as the information where I was learning things, it wasn't just reading, there were fun things for me to do too. There were stickers, where you could decorate scenes with the stickers included, there was colouring to do, puzzles to solve, and I loved that there was a 3D model of the globe to make. Its a great book to learn about other places around the world and other cultures.

Probably my favourite book to date. It is educational but fun. Packed full of record breakers, with accompanying pictures, which I liked looking at. I love the cool, gold cover of the book. It's a very big book, lots of pages, so it keeps you entertained for ages. I never want to put it down once I start reading, I've learnt lots of new things. There are funny facts, weird facts, mind boggling facts. You can read it in order, or find the areas you are most interested in. Think it's great value for money, would definitely recommend it for all ages.

I had heard of Asterix before, but never previously read any of them. I enjoyed this comic book, it had funny jokes and the artwork was excellent. There was drama and adventure and I liked the characters, it was an entertaining book, but I did have to ask my parents about certain references of history in the book that I didn't know about.

Book pages Miffy and the Royal Baby: A Lift-the-Flap Book
Miffy and the Royal Baby: A Lift-the-Flap Book
I read it to AvaW aged 2
Queen Miffy has to find a gift for the royal baby. This book is short and sweet. It is a lift the flap book, and each page has a different present that isn't suitable for the royal baby, until the last page where Queen Miffy has found the perfect gift. My 1year old enjoyed lifting the flaps to see what was underneath. I'd say it was suitable from birth to 2years.

Book pages Billy-William Bigheart: The Kindest Boy in the Universe
Billy-William Bigheart: The Kindest Boy in the Universe
MicahW read it aged 6
Billy William Bigheart is very kind, especially to animals as he loves them. William and his best friend Jim want to rescue some animals from a pet shop because the owner isn't very nice, but things don't go to plan, but William has a plan.
I enjoyed reading this book,  enjoyed the story line, and William and his best friend Jim were very likeable. It was fun, funny and there was adventure. There are black and white illustrations throughout the book and at the back of the book there was even an activity section; colouring in, spot the difference and a maze, which was lots of fun.

Book pages Lift The Flap Questions and Answers about our world
Lift The Flap Questions and Answers about our world
MicahW read it aged 6
I love information books and I have a couple of Usbornes books and love them. I particularly love this one as its a lift the flap one, which is all about our world.  I learnt lots of new information which I enjoy. There are over 60 flaps to lift, the answer to the question is underneath the flap, which I like as I can see if I know the answer before revealing it. Theres a big fold out map at the back of the book and a question page. It also gives you a website link to find out more info about our world. There is a contents page so you can go straight to areas of interest if you dont want to read it in order. It's a book I will read again and again, and give it a big thumbs up.

Book pages Fingerprint Activities
Fingerprint Activities
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is a lovely activity book, with plenty of ideas for fingerprinting. It comes with an ink pad with 7 different colours to colour the fingers to make prints with. Each page has a different scenes to add finger prints to. My 2year old lovs this book, and it keeps her entertained for ages. A great, fun interactive book, would recommend. Best to supervise young children when using it, as it says in the front of the book, not to get the ink on clothes or surfaces as it will stain.
