Book pages Thimble Monkey Superstar
Thimble Monkey Superstar
MicahW read it aged 7
Jams and his family get a monkey to look after, he is clever but mischievous, and he becomes Jam's best friend. The book was very funny, with plenty of adventure and I've not read a book like this. It was quite a short book, so I wished it was longer as it was really enjoyable. The chapter names were funny, and the book had black and white illustrations. I would be very happy if another book featuring Jam and Thimble came out.

Book pages Where's Wally? The Colouring Book
Where's Wally? The Colouring Book
MicahW read it aged 7
My mom and I used this colouring book. I didn't know who Wally was, but that makes no difference. I liked that it wasn't just your average colouring book, it was fun to have to look for Wally on each page. Some pages were quite hard to find Wally on, but it was good to have a challenge. There were also other things at the back of the book which you could go back and look for. I liked the different scenes that you could colour. It is a great colouring book for older children and adults.

House of Robots: Robots Go Wild!: (House of Robots 2)
MicahW read it aged 7
I loved the first house of robots book, so I expected this to be a great read, and I was right. I liked the black and white cartoon illustrations and the chapters were quite short, so it was easy to pick up where you left off.  It was entertaining, and I loved the robots. It was easy to read, it was fun, with plenty of action. I thought it was funny when E malfunctioned, and I liked the robots playing football. A big thumbs up

Book pages Mrs Honey's Hat
Mrs Honey's Hat
I read it to AvaW aged 3
I love reading this to my 3year old. We first heard it at a playgroup we went to, and I bought it for my daughter as she enjoyed the story so much. Its a funny simple story about Mrs Honey, who when visiting different places such as the beach, things are left on her hat, such as seaweed and shells, but she doesn't realise until the Sunday when she goes to church and everyone is starring at her. It's great as well for practising days of the week, as things happen in day order. My daughter likes to tell me on each page, what items she can see in Mrs Honey's hat. My daughter likes the pictures, and there is plenty to talk about from the pictures. The illustrations are very colourful, and its a very enjoyable book.

Book pages The Messy Book
The Messy Book
I read it to AvaW aged 3
This was a very enjoyable book, and I liked that it was a hardback. Cat makes a mess, Dog is asking her to tidy up but she won't. Dog makes plenty of efforts to get Cat to tidy up, offering to help but she just wants to shove it in a corner, jump on it, give the mess to other animals etc. My daughter found the book funny, and she could relate to the story. We liked the quirky illustrations, her favourite bit was when Cat hoovered up all the mess up, then it all exploded out of the hoover making a mess everywhere again. They did eventually tidy up in the end, and had a party, which then resulted in more mess. A very enjoyable book.

Book pages The Dear Zoo Drawing and Colouring Book
The Dear Zoo Drawing and Colouring Book
I read it to AvaW aged 3
This is a great book for those learning to draw. My daughter loves the dear zoo book so she equally loved this, but whether you have read the dear zoo book or not, its still a great drawing/colouring book. I helped my daughter with some bits as shes only 3, but it was fun and kept her entertained for a while. She really enjoyed doing it. They are asked to draw animals, draw things for the animals such as a banana for the monkey, draw things on the animals, such as big teeth on the lion, so there is a variety of things to do. A fab book for toddlers/nursery age.

Book pages Goat Goes to Playgroup
Goat Goes to Playgroup
I read it to AvaW aged 3
Goat and his animal friends go to playgroup. Loved the bright and colourful illustrations and the rhyming. Goat made my daughter laugh with the things he did, like hanging himself off the coat pegs. I liked the book as it shows what young children do and can need help with, and the things they learn being at playgroup, or even nursery. It is a funny book, and shows real scenarios, so would be great for those to look at who are going to be starting playgroup or nursery. Its simple but a lovely book.

Book pages Invisible Stanley
Invisible Stanley
MicahW read it aged 7
I saw this in the library, so got it out as I have Flat Stanley and really enjoyed that book, so thought I'd see what this one was like. In this book Stanley is turned invisible, and he gets up to lots of things whilst he is invisible, such as magic shows, foiling a robbery and lots of other fun things, but it wasn't always fun being invisible.I was glad for Stanley at the end that he managed to go back to normal after being invisible, as it was only fun for him to begin with. I like Stanley and his brother Arthur, who always seems to be the one that saves him when he is in trouble. Its quite a short story and easy to read independently. I did enjoy flat Stanley slightly more, but it was still a good read.

Book pages Lost and Found
Lost and Found
I read it to MicahW aged 7 & to AvaW aged 3
My son had read this book at school, and had to re-write it in his own words, so when we saw it in the library we decided to get it out. It was a lovely book that was suitable for both my children.A boy finds a penguin at his door, and decides to try and help the penguin get back home. There wasn't too much words on each page, some only had a few, so that was good for my youngest, and she enjoyed looking at the pictures. The whole story wasn't very long. Its a very pleasant book about friendship and we liked the sweet ending.

Book pages The Storytime: The Lion Who Lost His Roar but Learnt to Draw
The Storytime: The Lion Who Lost His Roar but Learnt to Draw
I read it to AvaW aged 3
My daughter picked this book from the library herself. The front cover has lots of animals on,and she loves animals. Lionel the lion cub loved to roar at everyone, but one day he loses his voice, so instead of roaring he draws to keep himself entertained. Its a lovely story suitable for toddlers/young children great length, bright and colourful illustrations, and my daughter enjoyed telling me the names of the jungle animals on each page, and she even learnt some new ones. Lionel ended up being good at roaring and drawing, even though he didn't think at first that he would find drawing fun. I liked that at the back of the book it had next steps, of things to discuss with children, such as what they think of drawing/ what they like to draw, and asks for them to draw their favourite animal, etc

Book pages Revolting Rhymes (Colour Edition)
Revolting Rhymes (Colour Edition)
MicahW read it aged 7
I enjoy rhyming books, and this one was really funny. I knew I would enjoy this, as it was by Roald Dahl. This one had 6 stories- Cinderella, jack and the beanstalk, snow white, goldilocks, little red riding hood and 3 little pigs. The stories aren't as you know them, they have been given a funny twist, such as Cinderella gets flushed down the loo and Goldilocks is a thief. I found the stories really funny, the flowed well because of the rhyming couplets and each story was a great length, not too short but not long. It is a book both boys and girls will like. y

Ladybird Tales: Goldilocks and the Three Bears
I read it to AvaW aged 3
The classic story of Goldilocks and the three bears. Beautiful illustrations, my daughter enjoys this story. It is easy to read and will be a book we will reread plenty of times. The story is a perfect length for little ones, and my daughter enjoys it when I tell the story using different voiced for the characters. There are other classic stories you can get in the collection.

Ladybird Tales: Little Red Riding Hood
I read it to AvaW aged 3
The classic version of the story, with great illustrations which my daughter enjoyed looking at. I liked that the illustrations in this version were nicer, as we have other versions of this book and the illustrations were quite scary with the wolf eating the grandma, etc. We liked that it was little red riding hoods father that saved granny from the wolf, and that at the end once she was saved, she was in bed eating cake and drinking blackcurrant

Ladybird Tales: The Gingerbread Man
I read it to AvaW aged 3
My daughter wasn't family with this tale, so this classic version was a nice version of the story to have. I love the classics, they never get old and you can reread them so many times. My daughter found it funny that a gingerbread man comes to life and the illustrations made her laugh. It was easy to read, a great length for little ones. There are other stories you can get in the classics collection, and at the end of each book in the collection it gives you the history of each story at the back of the book which is nice.

Ladybird Tales: Cinderella
I read it to AvaW aged 3
The classic version of the story as we know My daughter enjoyed the book, it was the right length for her. The illustrations were great and she enjoyed looking at them. She enjoyed the bit where the fairy godmother used her magic. It was easy to read, and will be a book that will last until my daughter is older. I liked it gave you the history of Cinderella at the back of the book.

Ladybird Tales: Jack and the Beanstalk
I read it to AvaW aged 3
Classic version of the story. Easy to read, with lovely illustrations which were bright and colourful. This version was slightly different to any others we read, it included the giants wife who lets Jack stay at he house, which is how he gets to steal things, and there is a fairy in this version, who had made Jack take the giant beans and climb the beanstalk so they wouldn't be poor again. At the back of the book it tells you the history of the story.

Ladybird Tales: The Ugly Duckling
I read it to AvaW aged 3
I enjoyed reading this story to my little one, and when shes a bit older she will understand the message from the book, but we talked about how you shouldn't ever pick on people or treat them differently and because people look different you should still be nice to them. She wasn't as interested in the pictures as she normally is with books, there wasn't much going in each picture. We loved how he turned into a handsome swan at the end, and it was interesting reading at the back of the book, the history of the story.

Whatever Next!
I read it to MicahW aged 7 & to AvaW aged 3
My children loved this book, and it was brilliant for getting them to use their imagination, which is always great. Baby bear builds himself a rocket out of a cardboard box and some other things and goes on an adventure to the moon. My children enjoyed telling me what they would use to make a rocket, and what they would do on the moon, it really got their imagination going. The illustrations were great, and its a great story. Definitely a book I am going to buy for my children.

The classic version of the tale, which I read to both my children. It didn't keep my youngests attention all the way through, but she loved the cottage made of sweets and cakes. Some younger children might not like the part when the witch locks Hansel up and wants to cook him.At the end of the book you are given the history of the book, which is interesting.

Book pages Look Inside How Computers Work
Look Inside How Computers Work
MicahW read it aged 7
I have a few Usborne information books and lift the flap ones, which I really enjoy so I was looking forward to reading this. I enjoy information books and I have an interest in computers, so this got  a big thumbs up from me. The lift the flaps and pictures made the book more fun. I liked the size of the book, as its quite small as most information books are big. I learnt lots of new things about computers that I didn't know, and it was written in a way that was easy to understand. It is colourful and detailed and I got through it quickly, as I wanted to keep reading it. I would definitely recommend it.

Book pages Touchy- Feely Fairies
Touchy- Feely Fairies
I read it to AvaW aged 3
My daughter chose this book when she saw it at the library. She liked the front cover, which stood out to her. It was bright, colourful, eye catching and had the fairies on the front with the different materials you could feel. All the way through the book, on each page it has the bits you can touch and feel, which my daughter enjoyed, and I would ask her how it felt to touch, such as soft, bumpy etc. The book tells of what fairies do; decorating the garden, painting flowers and rainbows, lighting the sky with stars. It is a lovely story, I would say its aimed at slightly younger children than my daughter.

Peppa Pig: Peppa Goes Ice Skating
I read it to AvaW aged 3
We have had this book out from the library numerous time. My daughter loves Peppa, so she wants it every time its there. She has seen this episode on the tv as well so she knows the story. Peppa and George go ice skating for the first time, and both Peppa and George do very well at it. It has bright and colourful illustrations, its not very long which is great for little ones

Book pages Football Frenzy
Football Frenzy
MicahW read it aged 7
I got this book from the library, as it sounded interesting;Josh and Jessica acting as bodyguards for a top footballer. It was funny, adventurous and I liked all the ninja action. It was easy to read, I liked that the font wasn't too small. There were no pictures, just on each page at the beginning of the chapter there would be a black and white picture of a different character. All the action made you want to keep reading more. There are 2 other books in the series with Josh and Jessica, so I want to read those as I really enjoyed this book.

Sam Swann's Movie Mysteries: Zombie Dawn!!!
MicahW read it aged 7
The title of the book intrigued me, so I got it out of the library. It was easy to read independently but not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I liked at the back of the book it told you how to do a life cast and an opened gut effect. There were black and white illustrations throughout the book, and I liked the facts you got throughout the book related to movies.
