Book pages Batsford Book of Music for Children
Batsford Book of Music for Children
MicahW read it aged 7
I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this book, but I did. I looked at it with my dad, as he is musical and plays the guitar. It was great that the book had a contents page as I could skip to the bits I was more interested in such as reading music, instruments etc. My dad plays the guitar and has recently got me a guitar, so this book was great to help me with that, as it had a section about learning to play the guitar which was very helpful, making with my dads guidance. I liked that for certain words it explained what they meant, such as  fortissimo, as some words I had no idea what the meant. It was very informative and I liked the edible music section

Book pages My Stinky New School
My Stinky New School
I read it to AvaW aged 3
This is a great book for my daughter, as she starts nursery school soon. But even if your child isn't starting school, it's still a great book. The detailed and colourful illustrations were great and there were lots of things for my daughter to look at. I liked the honesty of the book; starting school can be scary as its new and you don't know anyone, but then at the end like Toby, he gets new friends and has fun new experiences. My daughter liked how it described nursery smelling of sunshine, play doh and bananas, she said when she starts she is going to see what her nursery smells like. A lovely book we will be reading often before my daughter starts nursery.

Book pages A New Friend for Mouse
A New Friend for Mouse
I read it to AvaW aged 3
A lovely story about friendship between a mouse and an elephant. Mouse is very sad as she has no friends, and when she sees Elephant outside she sees her chance to make a new friend, but Elephant is scared of mouse. It's a funny book, and it's a rhyming book which is nice. Mouse and elephant do lots of fun things together in the story, and Elephant isn't scared anymore, and Mouse has a friend. The illustrations were lovely, and on each page different animals pop up, and my daughter enjoys going through the the pages and naming the animals she can see.

Book pages Timmy Failure: We Meet Again
Timmy Failure: We Meet Again
MicahW read it aged 7
I have read another Timmy failure book which I really enjoyed, and this one I enjoyed just as much. It will appeal to both boys and girls. It's funny, interesting and engaging. I liked the black and white comic illustrations throughout the book, which broke the text up a bit. I like Timmy's character, but I really like his sidekick, Total the polar bear.

Book pages City Trails - London
City Trails - London
MicahW read it aged 7
I have a few Lonely Planet information books which I love, so I was looking forward to reading this. I love information books, and it has lots of fun facts. I recently went to London so it was fun, when reading it, to see which places or things we had seen or visited, and when I next go to London I will be taking this book with me. You can read the book in order, or use the contents page to skip to bits you would find more interesting. I learnt lots of interesting facts. I liked the secrets revealed section the best. I liked that it was a small book, a great size for my hands. Some information books I have are really big. You can get other guide books in the series for New York and Paris as well.

Book pages Birthday Present
Birthday Present
I read it to AvaW aged 3
My daughter loves Bing and watches it on the tv. She has other Bing books, so I knew this would be a hit before we even read it! I have had to read it to her so many times since we have had it. It was a nice length, with bright and colourful pictures. My daughter likes saying which presents she likes, that Bing looks at as choices for Sula's birthday present. The stickers were a added bonus, as my daughter is mad on stickers, so a big thumbs up from us for the book!

Book pages Freaks United
Freaks United
MicahW read it aged 7
3 friends aren't picked for the football team, so they make their own team-freaks united. I enjoyed this book. I wasn't that sure at first as I am not a massive football fan, but despite that it was still good. It was funny, and I was laughing out loud at times, and I liked that it was about the less popular kids. There were no illustrations, but this didn't really matter as the book wasn't too long anyway, and the chapters were quite short. It was a fun, easy read

Book pages Middle School: Just My Rotten Luck: (Middle School 7)
Middle School: Just My Rotten Luck: (Middle School 7)
MicahW read it aged 7
I have enjoyed all the books from the middle school series that I have read so far, and this one is no different. Rare is back at middle school, As a special education student, as he needs some extra help. He ends up joining the football team so he isn't bullied, where he ends up a star, and he gets to show off his great art skills in this book. Rafe is a really likeable character , and the whole book was fun, entertaining and very enjoyable. There are lots of funny jokes, and I enjoy the black and white illustrations throughout the book. I liked that with the help of his imaginary friend, Rafe found a way to deal with the bullies.
