Book pages We're Going on a Bear Hunt
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
I read it to MicahW aged 6 & to AvaW aged 2
Great kids book, and a favourite of my sons. I used to love this as a child, and it's a book that all children seem to love. It's about a family going on a bear hunt, and the things they go through such as wind, water, mud to get to the cave, and when they see a bear they run home. We love doing the actions when we read it, like pretending to squelch through the mud, and walk through the snowstorm, and mY 1 year old gets involved too. I thought the children might get a bit scared with the throught of a bear chasing the family, so I say that the bear chased them as he wanted to be their friend. This is a favourite book in our house, it has lovely illustrations. It's catchy, not too long.

Book pages The Giant of Jum
The Giant of Jum
MicahW read it aged 6
This story is a modern twist to the Jack and the Beanstalk classic. A hungry giant meets a boy called Jack. The giant of Jum is grumpy, he wants a tasty snack (children). In the end, the giant turns out to be nice and he finds something tasty to eat instead of children, so there is a happy ending. The text rhymes, so it flows well. Its an easy read, the illustrations are brilliant and it is an amusing book. I really enjoyed reading it, a great book for girls or boys my age

Book pages Creature Teacher
Creature Teacher
MicahW read it aged 6
This is a really fun and entertaining book, about jakes teacher mr Hyde who is the best teacher in the whole world. But he has a secret, when he becomes upset he transforms into a small creature. He has some amazing abilities as a creature, but he's not well behaved, and the class have to come up with ways to hide the creature from the head-teacher. Chapters are short, the book is easy to follow, and the characters are engaging. The illustrations were good, I especially loved the illustrations of mr Hyde when he is a creature. I liked that there were random pictures of the creature at the start of every chapter, which I looked forward to seeing what he would be doing on the picture. I really enjoyed the story, and jake and my Hyde were the 2 most likeable characters. This book will appeal to both boys and girls my age and slightly older, and it reminded me of a Roald Dahl book, so anyone that likes those will love this book.

Book pages Max the Brave
Max the Brave
I read it to AvaW aged 2
The book is about Max, a kitten who is fearless, and brave. He wants to chase mice but doesn't know what they look like, so tries to find out. He comes across different animals and insects whilst looking for a mouse. It's a fairly short book, but for young ones it's a perfect length, with lots of pictures and bright colours.

Peppa Pig: On Pirate Island Sound Book
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This book would be a hit for any peppa pig fans. Peppa and her friends go on an exciting adventure to pirate island with grandpa and granny pig on grandpa pigs boat. This books is great as the child reading it can get involved, as there are 18 sound buttons, and as you are reading the story, it tells your which buttons to press. My daughter loves pressing the buttons

Book pages Lift-the-Flap General Knowledge
Lift-the-Flap General Knowledge
MicahW read it aged 6
I love this book, as it is all facts, and I am learning something everytime I read it.There are hundreds of facts, and over 135 flaps to lift, which have facts and pictures behind them. It is such an interesting book.If you are more interested in certain areas there is a contents page, which tells you what pages cover what areas, such as the world, science, living things, etc. Theres a true or false section which I particularly enjoy, as I like to see how many facts I have remembered from reading the books, by seeing how many true or false questions I can get right. If you like going on the computer or tablet as well, there is a link they give at the back of the book, for more general knowledge facts. This book came in handy with one of my projects I had to do for school about animals, I used some of the interesting facts about animals from the book. Its one of my favourite books, and I will never get tired of reading it.

Book pages Amelie and Nanette: Sparkly Shoes and Picnic Parties
Amelie and Nanette: Sparkly Shoes and Picnic Parties
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is a lovely book for little girls about 2 girls who are best friends. The 2 characters Amelie and Nanette are very likeable characters. They do fun things together; picnics, buying shoes, dancing. The illustrations are lovely, and have a vintage feel to them. The book also comes with free pretty notelets and envelopes. My daughter loved writing on them and putting them in the envelopes

Princess Mirror-Belle and the Dragon Pox
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is a fun, imaginative, glittery book that little girls will love. Ellen has chicken pox and her reflection comes out of the mirror. Her reflection has dragon pox  and she is a princess. They have fun together, making a mess of the bathroom but when Ellen's mom comes into see the bathroom trashed, there is only Ellen there. It is funny, the princess from the mirror is mischievous. The illustrations are fantastic

Book pages Early Reader: The Dragon's Dentist
Early Reader: The Dragon's Dentist
I read it to MicahW aged 6
This is an early reader book, so it wasn't hard. It was easy to read independently, had short chapters and not many difficult words. So I read it pretty quickly. But for those that are looking for a book to progress onto when they are new readers it's a perfect book. It's about a boy called Harry who wishes he was a knight. He has a horse called Oats, and wants to go off on an exciting adventure, so goes off to capture a dragon. The dragon they find ends up having a bad tooth, and they help him get it out. The illustrations are good, they are done by the illustrator of Horrible Histories. There are lots of other titles you can get in the collection as well.
