Book pages The Shape Game
The Shape Game
I read it to MicahW aged 6 & to AvaW aged 2
A family visit an art gallery one day as they wanted to go so where different. They didn't think they would enjoy it, but they really did. It tells you of a game you can play when you are bored, which is the shape game. The illustrations are great and I think it's a good book for adults as well as children. Some of the art work the family see at the gallery is explained, which I thought was good. It could be a great way to introduce art galleries to children if they have never been before or are going to visit one. An interesting book.

Book pages Maisy Goes to Nursery
Maisy Goes to Nursery
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is a lovely book about what Maisy and her friends get up to at nursery. I got this book for Ava as she starts nursery in September, and we have been talking about it, what to expect etc and saw this and thought it would be a brilliant book to read about nursery at home. She enjoys it, and discussed with me, what they do in the book at nursery and what she will do. She likes the illustrations which are bright and colourful. It's easy to read, great for toddlers/ little ones.

Book pages Why I Love My Mummy
Why I Love My Mummy
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is such a sweet book which explores the reasons why mommy's are loved. Each page has a different reason of why a mommy is loved, eg because she feeds me, takes me to nice places, etc, accompanied by a picture of an animal with their mommy. Both mom and child would love this, would be a lovely book for a new mom or as a Mother's Day present. It's quite short, but the length is fine for little ones. My daughter enjoyed telling me what the animals on each page were.

Book pages Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
MicahW read it aged 6
This is the story of Charlie Bucket, who along with 4 other children, gets to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, and learn all the secrets and magic I really enjoyed this story, it was easy to read independently. I liked the oompa loompas, the silly made up words in the book and the funny songs. There was lots of bits in the book that make you laugh, such as Augustus getting stuck up the pipe. There are lots of great characters, especiallyWilly Wonka. I liked that Charlie who didn' have much money found  golden ticket, and he was a good child and followed the rules at the factory, and ended up getting to keep the factory. I would highly recommend this book.

Book pages The BFG
The BFG
MicahW read it aged 6
I had seen the film and really enjoyed it, so when I saw the book in the supermarket I wanted to read it. It such an exciting book, theres lot of adventure and I love the relationship between Sophie and the BFG. There are funny bits, and scary bits. I wasn't scared about the giants that want to eat children, but some other children might get scared at those bits. It's a book I will read over and over again

Book pages Spot Bakes A Cake
Spot Bakes A Cake
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is one of my daughter's favourite Spot books. We read it all the time, and she knows most of the story now, so will read it to me. It is Spot's dads birthday so him and his mom are making him a cake. Its a lift the flap book, and my daughter loves getting involved and lifting the flaps on each page. The illustrations are bright and colourful, its a nice, fun story, a great length for little ones.

Book pages Disney Frozen 1000 Stickers: Over 60 activities inside!
Disney Frozen 1000 Stickers: Over 60 activities inside!
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This was a big hit for my daughter, as she loves frozen and she loves stickers. There is lots to do to keep her entertained and occupied. There are over 1000 stickers, which she loves using and sticking all over the place and sticking on the pictures in the book. The stickers are all different sizes and my daughter can get   them off herself. There are also frozen pictures to colour in, which she enjoys doing independently, and other activities to do, which she needed help with as she's a but young, like spot the difference, mazes, wordsearches etc. So its a great sticker book for young ones and older children who love Frozen as well.

Book pages I Like Books
I Like Books
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This book is perfect for my 2year old as she loves books. It talks about different books you may like, such as fairytales, funny books, books about ABCs etc. It's suitable for babies up to toddlers. It's short and simple, with lots of bright, colourful illustrations, with one sentence on each page. When we read this, we always talk about what books we like. My daughter likes the chimp that is on each page with the different books

Book pages Topsy and Tim: Safety First
Topsy and Tim: Safety First
I read it to AvaW aged 2
My daughter loves watching Topsy and Tim on the tv, so when we saw the book she was very happy. This book focuses on safety, and With Topsy and Tim we learn about different things like crossing the road, car safety and playing in the garden safely. My daughter can't get enough of the book, and it helps introducing them to dangerous things or scenarios. Some of the situations in the book, my daughter would relate to them as we do them. I was a bit worried I might frighten my daughter with the book, as it has things like choking etc, but it didn't phase her

Strictly No Crocs
I read it to AvaW aged 2
Zebra is having a party and no crocs are allowed. The crocodiles hear go the party and plan to go along and eat everyone up. They wear disguises and get in and have so much fun at the party they forgot about the plan to eat everyone. My daughter really enjoyed the story, and we had to read it over again as soon as we had got to the end. She liked looking at the pictures and talking about what she does at parties as well. It's the perfect story length for little ones.

Book pages Noisy Animal Peekaboo!
Noisy Animal Peekaboo!
I read it to AvaW aged 2
This is a great noisy animal lift the flap book. There are 5 different animal sounds. On each page, you lift the flap and it makes the animal noise. My daughter loves getting involved by lifting the flap, and she will copy the animal sound. Its great for little ones, its engaging, and a good book for teaching them about animals and their sounds. The pictures are bold, colourful and eye catching. The only downfall is, sometimes when you lift the flap it doesn't make the sound, so you have to shut it and try it again, it doesn't always work the first time.

Book pages Oh Dear!
Oh Dear!
I read it to AvaW aged 2
My daughter loves this book, and we have read it so many times she knows most of the book off by heart, and will read it to herself in her own words. Its a lift the flap book, which is a big hit with my daughter, as she loves getting involved with the book by lifting the flaps. Buster is staying on his Grandma's farm, and he has to go and find the eggs for breakfast. We follow Buster as he visits the different animals on the farm, so its great for teaching little ones about different animals and the places they live on the farm, such as a pig in a sty and a horse in the stables. My daughter will tell me what each animal is, and will say whether she thinks the eggs are there or not.

Book pages Say Goodnight to the Sleepy Animals
Say Goodnight to the Sleepy Animals
I read it to AvaW aged 2
We read this as a bedtime story. Join the cat as she goes around saying goodnight to different animals before bedtime. They say the animals noises the animals make, which my daughter likes and she will do the noises. My daughter loves that on each page the animals have a velvety touch, which is soft and nice to feel, and she can stroke them. Its a pleasant, relaxing story, great for bed time.

Book pages Is This My Nose?
Is This My Nose?
I read it to AvaW aged 2
We have had this one since my daughter was a baby, shes 2 now and still enjoys it. This is a lovely book that helps little ones learn where different features on their face are, and they can use the pictures in the book to help them find them. Its a fun book. Now my daughters older she will tell me what the child on each page is pointing to, such as chin, nose, etc and then she will point to it on her face or on mine. The best bit is at the end, where there is a mirror your child can look into and see their own reflection. Its a nice simple book that's very effective.

Horrid Henry Sticker Book: Over 200 Stickers!
MicahW read it aged 6
I love the horrid henry books, so when I saw the sticker book I was very happy. There are over 200 cool stickers with the book. There are lots of cool scenes to stick them on in the sticker book, and I also use them on other things at home, and my mom will put them in my reading diary from school, as she always puts a sticker in when she writes a comment about my reading. It keeps me entertained, and I like the pictures/scenes in the sticker book of Henry's pranks

Book pages Oxford School Dictionary & Thesaurus
Oxford School Dictionary & Thesaurus
MicahW read it aged 6
I got given this from school as I had completed all the words and spellings we had to learn correctly. It is easy to use, and I like that if there is a word I can't spell or a word I want to know the meaning of, I don't have to ask my parents, I can just use this. The only downfall is, there are some words I have tried to look up that are not included, but they are in another dictionary/thesaurus I have, so some words have been missed out. I loved that they give you a website you can go onto, where there are puzzles ad games, these are fun.

This a charming story about a new pet. Its Kippers friends birthday and he would love a pet. So Kipper gets him a hamster called Roly. Kipper has so much fun playing with Roly at home, and before he knows it he has missed his friends party, and he loves Roly so much he can't bear to give him away to his friend anymore. We love this story, and we can relate to it having pets ourself. It's a sweet story that my daughter and I both enjoyed. The illustrations are lovely and it's a story we will it's it's a book we will read lots of times.

A lift the flap ABC book, great for little ones. Each letter has a picture of an animal next to, so it will say d is dolphin and there will be a picture of a dolphin. Some of the pages have flaps to lift, which reveals a hiding animal. My daughter loves uncovering he hiding animals and telling me what they are. It's nice for learning the ABC and learning animals. The illustrations are bright and colourful, and it's a board book, so great for little hands and it's a sturdy book. One of my daughters favourite ABC books.

Book pages iRobot
iRobot
MicahW read it aged 6
This is a great book that brings robots to life. My mom downloaded the free app on the iPad that you need to use, I thought it was great that the app was free. There are 4 different things you can do with the book and app; build your own robot, fly a drone, battle with robots and interact with a life-size robot. To do each activity you have to hold your iPad or phone over a specific page in the book. I got one of my parents to do this bit, and we couldn't get it to work straight away. We found putting the book flat on the floor was best. The only downfalls were, sometimes when you were doing an activity the robots would disappear off the screen and you would have to start again, and also the battle the bots activity you need 2 phones or iPad's to do it, and I think it would have been better if you didn't need 2 devices to do that, and could battle the computer. I liked reading all the information in the book about robots, and learnt lots of new things. It is a really fun interactive book, and there are others you can get in the series.

Book pages I Love My Mummy: Board Book
I Love My Mummy: Board Book
I read it to MicahW aged 6 & to AvaW aged 2
We have the 'I love my Daddy' book by the same author, so thought it would be nice to get this one. Its a lovely story I like reading to both my children, one who is 2 and the other who is 6, and they both like the story. Its a nice, touching story and we like the rhyming throughout, but the last sentence for some reason doesn't rhyme which spoils it a bit. It has great illustrations, and I like that its from the toddlers perspective. Both my children can relate to various situations in the book, and we will read it again and again.

Book pages Star Wars: The Snare: The Snare
Star Wars: The Snare: The Snare
MicahW read it aged 6
In a galaxy far away, Milo and Lina's parents are kidnapped by Captain Korda, a horrible villain. Follow Milo and Lina on their starship, as they go on an adventure to try and save their parent's. I liked that there was chapters, each a few pages long. There is black and white illustrations throughout, which breaks the text up a bit. It was easy to read on my own and I didn't come across many difficult words. It was easy to follow and full of adventure. There is a lot of technical terms; things to do with repulsors, magna-pads, the engineering and computer systems on the ship, etc but I liked that it goes into detail, even though I weren't sure what some things were. Milo and Lina are very brave. The story is to be continued  in book 2: The Nest, and I will want to read that to see what happens next.

Book pages Oh No, George!
Oh No, George!
I read it to AvaW aged 2
George is a dog, who likes to think he can be good. When his owner leaves him on his own, he ends up making a mess of the house and eating a whole cake that was left in he house. My daughter laughs out loud at this book. George is a cheeky dog but he's very likeable. My daughter likes it because it will say something that George has seen like cake, which he likes but he is supposed to be being good, then it will say 'what will George do'? And my daughter likes telling me what she thinks he will do. It's simple, with repetition, which is great for little ones, and well written.

Funny Face Sunny Face
I read it to AvaW aged 2
Tis is a lovely rhyming book for little ones. It follows the routing throughout the day of little ones. from waking up, getting readying, playing, eating and going to bed. The illustrations are beautifully done and very colourful. Each page only has a few words, but it's perfect for toddlers. It would be a good book to look at with little ones learning their body parts, as each page features a different part of the body; nose, hands, hair, lips, arms etc. It's a very cute, fun book.

Book pages Peep Inside a Fairy Tale Little Red Riding Hood
Peep Inside a Fairy Tale Little Red Riding Hood
I read it to AvaW aged 2
A lovely illustrated, lift-the-flap version of the classic fairy tale. My daughter loved peeping through the cut out holes into the dark woods and lifting the flaps to look out for the big bad wolf. The illustrations are great and colourful and we liked it followed the original version of the fairytale. My daughter wasn't scared by the wolf eating red hiding hood and her grandma, and she thought it was funny that when they were saved by the woodcutter, that grand an sewed the wolf's belly up with stones in it. There were lots for my daughter to look at on each page, and we liked the little details on each page.

A great bedtime book. The Sleepy vehicles go home ready for bed, after a busy day working. Even though it's about machines and vehicles, its a nice book for boys or girls, my 2 year old daughter really enjoys it. The illustrations are bold, bright and colourful, and the rhyming helps the text flow well. My daughter enjoyed telling me what the vehicles in the book were called. We both enjoyed the book.

The wildlife park is awarding gold stars to the animals, but will Goerge the giraffe get one. A very cute book that my daughter enjoyed. The text is simple and the pictures are great and bright, and there are great themes such as kindness and friendship, and I liked how it showed how rewarding it can be to help a friend. It will be a great book for when my daughter is slightly older and she can understand the messages in the book better.

Hamish and the Neverpeople
MicahW read it aged 6
I thought this was a cool book.......funny, silly, fun, with lots of adventure. The world is in danger again, and Hamish and his friends try to save the day.  The madness starts at 10 Downing street, and there is a wierd, alternate universe. The plot kept you wanting to read more and there were some great jokes. I think it would of been helpful to read the first book, as this is the 2nd one. It was exciting, and got your imagination going.
