Mr Large In Charge
Author: Jill Murphy Illustrator: Jill Murphy
We love this series of books, and this one is no exception. It's funny but soooo true. Poor Mrs large is ill so Mr large puts her back to bed to rest. Then every few minutes she interupted by someone. Pretty much like real life. It did however make my children think and say that they will leave who ever sick alone rather than interupting them like in the story. I love the way these books make the children think about consequences of what might feel like minor interactions and interuptions.

Peace at Last
Author: Jill Murphy
As a family we loved this book. Easy to keep entertaining, everyone joined in with sound effects of snoring and dripping. The children felt it was just like dad, except in this house he snores!

Five Minutes' Peace
Author: Jill Murphy Illustrator: Jill Murphy
Pretty much sums up real life, as a mum I empathise with Mrs large the elephant who just wants 5 minutes to her self. It made my children realise how much like the characters in the book they are in the way they demand my time. Hopefully they will understand and one day I might get 5 minutes peace, here's hoping!

How to Train Your Dragon: Book 1
Author: Cressida Cowell
We read this book as a family reading time, after baths and before bed. The older children really liked the characters and learnt something from this story. The younger ones liked the excitement that builds throughout this tale. Henry plans on becoming a dragon trainer now when he grows up, interesting career choice.

The Highway Rat
Author: Julia Donaldson Illustrator: Axel Scheffler
Like all of Julia Donaldson books this is both beautifully illustrated and written. Repetitive enough to allow younger non readers to join with a moral plot for older ones.
