Hatchimals: The Official Colleggtor's Guide 2
Author: Hatchimals
What a hit this book is!
Although I haven’t been allowed anywhere near it, Georgie has spent hours absorbed in it reading and doing activities. She even wrote a review of it for the Book Lover badge at Rainbows. The only downside is that now she wants Hatchimals for all her Christmas and birthday presents!

Horrid Henry's Christmas Cracker: Book 15
Author: Francesca Simon Illustrator: Tony Ross
Georgie borrowed this book from the school library.
She loves finding out about the mischief that Henry gets up to! She always feels sorry for Perfect Peter because of what Henry does to him. She wants Henry to say sorry to him.
She thinks Henry should have got nicer presents even though he’d been a horrid boy, and she thinks his presents (except the poems for mum and dad) were nice too. I’m hoping this will encourage her to behave well in the build up to Christmas!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Author: Roald Dahl
Georgie has just begun to want to read Roald Dahl books and this is the one we’ve begun with.
She loves all of the description in this book and secretly wishes she could have won a golden ticket too!
She loves the characters that Dahl has created and asks lots of questions about them.
She has enjoyed looking at the pictures which has helped to bring the story to life even more.
We will watch the movie next.

Girls Can Do Anything!
Author: Caryl Hart Illustrator: Ali Pye
Georgie chose this book from the library as our family motto is that we can do anything we choose.
She loved reading this book and seeing all of the different things she can already do and might be able to do as she gets older. It has given her lots of ideas!
From my point of view, I appreciated that of the successful females shown at the back of the book, several had disabilities. One of them is deaf, like Georgie, so she could really connect to it on a personal level.

Old MacDonald Heard a Parp from the Past
Author: Olaf Falafel
We were excited to win this book as we love the original one - toilet humour goes down well in this house!
Sadly, we didn’t feel that this was nearly as good. It seems to be trying to give a trip through historical periods, but it is rushed and disconnected, in our opinion. It didn’t make us giggle like the first book.
The illustrations are great and clear.
