Iguana Boy Saves the World With a Triple Cheese Pizza
Author: James Bishop Illustrator: Rikin Parekh
I liked this book because it is funny and Dylan's (the main character) superpower is very surprising.  Dylan is very helpful and clever unlike his older brother, Arctic Thunder, who is very proud.  There are some comic illustrations.  It made me feel happy and I wanted my brother to read it.

The World's Worst Children
Author: David Walliams Illustrator: Tony Ross
Hilarious.  This is a book my 8yr old has read over and over.  Favourite character has to be 'Brian Wong who was never ever wrong'.  He's so keen to prove he is right about everything that he ends up trying to count to infinity.  Impossible, I know, but he doesn't think so.  At the end of the story he's still counting on his death bed.  Ridiculous but at the same time possibly a little lesson on pride!

Author: Roald Dahl Illustrator: Quentin Blake
I tried to read this book to myself as a small girl and quickly gave up when I got to the tricky words (clearly before phonics!!).  What a joy to read it as an adult to my 6yr old.  I loved seeing his excitement escalate as Sophie and the BFG formulate and then carry out their plan to vanquish their enemies.  It's scary in parts, definitely nightmare-inducing for a child with a vivid imagination.  But worth it to enjoy Roald Dahl's twists on the English language ('two rights don't make a left'!) and to enter into his world of giants, frobscottle and a little heroine who even manages to engage the Queen's services!
