The new Tom Gates book, Ten Tremendous Tales, comes out in June 2020 and is Tom Gates Book Number 18 in this brilliant series by Liz Pichon.

In terms of an age recommendation, I think these are great books for ages 8+ and if you want to start at the beginning, the first Tom Gates book is The Brilliant World of Tom Gateswhich was first published in 2011.

You don't have to read the Tom Gates books in order, but if you do want to, you can see the correct order below.

This quirky, funny, highly-illustrated, fiction series follows life’s ups and downs of chaotic but loveable Tom, Delia, his old sister, his parents and of course his best friend Marcus. Written by award-winning author and illustrator Liz Pichon, Tom is a master of excuses (especially when it comes to homework), creative storyteller and doodler and middle-school comedian extraordinaire.

Proving hugely popular, the Tom Gates series has been translated into 42 languages and sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. There are 15 books in the main series, all packed full of brilliant illustrations, making them ideal for all young readers but especially reluctant readers and children who may relate to Tom’s own struggles with dyslexia.

All the Tom Gates books in order:

Book 1: The Brilliant World of Tom Gates (2011)
Book 2: Excellent Excuses (and other good stuff) (2011)
    Book 3: Everything's Amazing (sort of) (2012)
Book 4: Genius Ideas (Mostly) (2012)
Book 5: Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic (at some things) (2013)
Book 6: Extra Special Treats (not) (2014)
    Book 7: A Tiny Bit Lucky (2015)
Book 8: Yes! No (Maybe) (2015)

Book 11: Dog Zombies Rule (for Now) (2017)
Book 12: Family, Friends and Furry Creatures (2018)
Book 13: Epic Adventure (Kind of) (2018)
