My daughter loves Julia Donaldson books, and we bought this one as I felt it was a safe bet. We were not disappointed.

My daughter loves weddings at the moment and so she listened carefully to every detail of the story. She even joins in on some of her favourite pages.

Beautifully illustrated and it has a nice easy Rhyming style to the story which makes this another one of our favourites.

The story is of two scarecrows who fall in love and are getting married, and their preparations for the wedding.

I really enjoyed reading this rhyming book to my kids. They sat and listened intently and loved pointing out things across the pages. We would read it again especially as the kids get a little bit older.

We love Julia Donaldson books and we got this for our little when we got married and it was such a lovely story to read.

As always the rhythm and rhyming words are beautiful and how the farm comes together to help the pair get married is just lovely.

Such a joy to read time and time again.

I read it to my son aged three. As with all Julia's books this one has a repetitive rhyme which my son loves and is quickly repeating the rhyme with me. The story is about helping members in the community with a little suspense of of course a cute love story. Got my son talking about weddings and what they mean.

It's a lovely book about scarecrows who get married and covers a few topics throughout. I think I would aim this book at 4 up as is quite long and covers smoking and how it is bad for you.

A personal favourite of mine and I know my 3 year old rates it highly too. Like all Julia Donaldson books, the rhyming is excellent, almost sing-songsy and the amount of detail is great "a spider friend offered to see them together" Particularly like the illustrations of the water being thrown (Axel Scheffler genius) and the fact that my daughter can repeat and remember the rhymes. 5*

Another winning combination from Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffer, this is a tale of two scarecrows who fall in love and decide to marry. When Harry O'Hay goes off to search for pink flowers for the wedding, his fiancée is joined by Reginald Rake, a new scarecrow. Will she fall for his charms, or remain true to Harry O'Hay? As usual with Julia Donaldon, there are fantastic rhymes, a pacy story and a bit of twist at the end. Great read which my son loves.

This book is full of the usual Julia Donaldson rhymes and lots of charming animal illustrations. A milder version of a traditional tale - my daughter loves it, especially the joyful ending. Not our absolute favourite Donaldson book but very highly rated.

My daughter wasn't to keen on this story, even though she loves the other Julia Donaldson stories.  It has the same rhythm as the other books which my daughter normally enjoys. It's about two scarecrows that are in love and want to get married; they go through lots of adventures but eventually get married. The illustrations are as good as ever from Axel Scheffler.
