Talulla Bear's Bedtime Book: A Sleepytime Tale

Author:

FROM BIRTH ONWARDS

A soothing bedtime book to help children get to sleep.

Little Talulla Bear needs help to get to sleep. In this dreamy bedtime tale, she's encouraged to snuggle down and imagine other sleepy animals, including the cosy cat and snoozing dog. Listening to the calming words of the story, and feeling safe beneath the tranquil night sky and twinkling stars, she soon becomes very, very sleepy.... The poetic and meditative language in this beautiful storybook, combined with Sarah Perkins' stunning and soothing illustrations, will gradually calm a restless child at bedtime.

This book was originally written for Heather Roan Robbins' granddaughter, Talulla, who had trouble falling asleep. Just as she did with Talulla, here Heather takes children on a meditative journey to find that deep place of restful peace, a place where all can be right with the world.

This story is so beautiful and peaceful. It is the perfect story to end the night with as you find yourself reading it in a very calm voice. There isn't really a story but it's more about a little bear who's mummy bear is reading to him and telling him about the world, nature and animals as they relax and wind down to sleep. Really lovely and a new favourite after a hectic day!.

I liked the fact that this book was aimed at helping children fall asleep. The images I thought were beautiful. The idea behind the book is a good one but I think there are maybe too many words for a younger child to be fully interested in the book. I would say it would be aimed at 4+. It Is a good way to get your little one relaxed for bed and teaches them different way to relax  which is good.

This is a beautiful, large hardback book. It's not one I would ordinarily have chosen as the picutres are possibly aimed at slightly older children (my daughter is nearly 2) but the story is lovely.  It is about baby animals going to sleep and there are lots of sleep triggers, sleep suggestions (e.g. animals curling up and getting cosy, breathing slowly etc).  It's a fairly long story for little ones but has some lovely word imagery (the stars are shining above as they have since the beginning of time) and my little girl fell asleep during it for the first three evenings in a row of reading it (in fact I fell asleep during it when my husband was reading it to our little girl!) Unfortunately on the fourth evening of reading it my little girl got wise to the end result of the book and wouldn't let us read it to her as she knew it would send her to sleep (as she's a sleep fighter!)  This is one we will keep coming back to.

This is an interesting book with beautiful pictures. It did not put my daughter to sleep but was an interesting and different way to wind down. Some sections were a bit long though and I think it is aimed more at older children more (my dd is 2 1/2).

A lovely bedtime book, I would say that because the book was originally written for a granddaughter it is unique for her but we did enjoy the book

This book had lovely illustrations and colours.  I think the story was a little bit hard for my 3 year old. There were words and phrases she didn't understand. She did fall asleep during the story. It wasn't as poetical as I thought it would be for a sleepy bedtime book but it is a nice story about animals getting ready and falling asleep which my daughter did enjoy and she likes seeing the pictures of sleeping animals.

Read it to Esther bear who is 17 months. The pictures were lovely and she is used to being read to, but it was very long winded and 'wordy' for her. She didn't fall asleep, but became restless and climbed down from my knee. I would recommend this for children of at least 3 years old.
