Gigantosaurus

Author:

All young dinosaurs are warned about the scary Gigantosaurus. So Bonehead volunteers to be the dino-kids lookout whenever they go into the jungle to play. Unfortunately, he is the original boy-dinosaur who cried wolf, or in this case, GIGANTOSAURUS! Finally, Bonehead's friends refuse to believe his warnings and the Gigantosaurus really turns up! In a vertical gatefold surprise, it looks like Bonehead has got crunched - but in a hilarious reveal we discover this annoying little dinosaur is safe after all.

This is a really lovely book and especially good for fans of dinosaurs. It has fantastic illustrations and a moral to the story. All young dinosaurs are warned about the scary Gigantosaurus. When the dinosaur friends all go out to play one of them offers to be look out and let the others know if he says the infamous Gigantosaurus. Unfortunately he keeps telling his friends that the Gingantosaurus is coming. Will they actually believe him when the Gigantosaurus really does arrive and what will happen if they don't? A fun story for all ages with a fantastic foldout page.

The children that this book was read to LOVED this book! They liked the word Gigantosaurus. they enjoyed the story and the illustrations very much. The book inspired lots of talk about dinosaurs, and the dinosaur models came back out (at the children's request) and the story was played out. Gigantosaurus inspired talk of size and time along with talk of our schools Christian Value, friendship. Just brilliant!

"The Gigantosaurus! Quick run and hide!"
"It's not, Mummy!!!"
My 3 year old absolutely loves this book. He loves dinosaurs and this cute story with lovely drawings and even a page to flip open is his favourite book and has been for a few weeks now. He has memorised most of the text and gets really involved.
As a mother I do like the morale of the story - if you lie too often, nobody will believe you and it can get you into trouble.
A big hit for every dinosaur loving child!

A classic story with a strong moral belief to always tell the truth. The boy who cried wolf springs to mind as he kept telling his friends the scary dinosaurs were coming and they kept running and hiding. When there then was a scary carnivore dinosaur they didn't believe him and stayed put thinking it was a trick. They then thought their friend had been eaten but he was hiding in the remains of the nest.

My twins who are six love doing the actions, looking at the gorgeous illustrations and listening to the story that captures their imagination and leads to lots of questions at the end. They love listening to the rhyming verses and repetitive story parts.

A winner in this house like the rest of (Jonny Duddle) titles.

Leo liked this book because he loves dinosaurs! He also liked that it rhymed and that there were some repetitive phrases that he could join in with. He loved trying to say the names of the dinosaurs as they can be a bit like tongue twisters! He thought that it taught a good lesson at the end which was a bit like the boy who cried wolf, because Bonehead had said that the Gigantosaurus was coming lots of times when he wasn't so they didn't believe him when he did come.

We absolutely loved this book!!! Charlie is still acting the story out 10 minutes after finishing the book! The story flowed so well and made it so easy to read out loud. We also learnt a lot about dinosaurs that we didn't know thanks to the "meet the dinosaurs" section at the end. I loved the moral behind the story, not to tell lies. Bonehead is the prehistoric boy who cried wolf. This book will definitely be a family favourite for years to come

This is a fun book, my little boy loves dinosaurs. The young dinosaurs are warned about the gigantosaurus and bonehead thinks it's funny playing tricks on the others. Saying it's the gigantosaurus when it's not. But when he does really spot him, the others don't believe him. We enjoyed this book.

This has become a firm favourite in our house.  The boy who cried wolf told through dinosaurs!  The book rhymes and flows well which makes it easy for my children to join in "His feet go STOMP! His teeth go CRUNCH! In the blink of an eye you'll be his LUNCH!"
There is a fold out page which adds excitement to the illustrations in the middle of the book.  Personally I'm not a huge fan of random fold out pages, it makes it difficult for me to hold the book nicely while I'm holding children!
Overall a good read.

This is a great book. It is a bit like The Boy Who Cried Wolf - but a dinosaur version. It features all the popular dinosaurs and the pictures are great. My son loves it.
