Poor Solomon is looking for some fun but no one wants to play. The dragonflies tell him to buzz off, the storks get in a flap, and the hippo? Well, the less said about the hippo, the better! But then somebody else starts causing trouble . . . and for once it is NOT Solomon. Could it be the perfect pal for a lonely crocodile? Solomon Crocodile is a snappy, happy book from Catherine Rayner, winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal. This chunky board book format with a beautifully foiled cover is perfect for younger readers. Featuring instantly recognizable, stunning artwork and an irresistibly cheeky central character that children will love, Solomon Crocodile is a book to treasure.

This is a delightful book that makes my toddlers laugh every time.

Solomon is a cheeky crocodile who annoys everyone because he wants to play (and goes about it in the most pestilential ways!) He gets very upset because no one will play with him...until he hears someone else getting up to his normal antics... The ending is great to stimulate your children to guess who's coming and it gently builds anticipation.

It's beautifully illustrated and a superb read; it introduces some wild animals and there's plenty of opportunity to be loud and model feelings.

I highly recommend it!

Solomon is a mischievous young crocodile who is bored  and looking for fun. He wants to play, but none of the other older animals enjoy his games. My son loves the playfulness of Solomon and his impish character, and although he does things that annoy the grown ups, he is really a very delightful character and very likable.  The story is great fun, as are the pictures.

My 3 year old bought this book home from nursery. Solomon crocodile likes to play, but the other animals and insects that live by the river don't want to play with him. Its a nice ending though, as at the end he has a crocodile friend to cause trouble with. Its a lovely story which my daughter enjoyed, not too long, but good length for little ones. The illustrations are simple and colourful. An entertaining book over all.

My daughter has been enjoying this book. We took it out of the library after enjoying some previous Catherine Rayner books. She loves this lovely board book as she is able to take overship of it by easily holding it herself to read. It is a simple but lovely story that is easy for little ones to pick up and re-tell themselves. After I read my daughter it the once she now takes it off and repeats "go away Solomon". I love that different words are use to express the same annoyance that Solomon is causing for the animals. I great way to talk about/discuss synonyms and how we can use different words to convey the same meaning.
Lovely book with great ending making you want to carry on reading to the next book to see what he gets up to next.

Its a quiet and peaceful morning on the river... until Solomon crocodile appears.... he splodges through the mud to make the frogs jump (and they tell him to go away and stop being a pest).... and he goes on to similarly interrupt and annoy the dragonflies, storks and hippos... but nobody wants to play. Then he hears a noise.... someone doing all the things he had been doing.....interrupting the same animals in the same order.... and its another crocodile! A friend to play with.
Illustrations are lovely.... but we were a bit disappointed by the story's ending. It's a little bit like David Walliam's "The Bear That Went Boo" - but thats a much better book !!

Solomon is a cheeky crocodile who wants to play but the other animals in the jungle to not feel the same! However, he hears someone causing trouble and it's not him, could this be a new friend for Solomon?

Lovely illustrations and the story is sweet but I do have to cut out some of the sentences so S stays focused. Quality board book that can be enjoyed by a range of ages. S likes the glittery bits on the pictures!
