The third chilling instalment in the new Spook's legend . . .

An assassin lurks in the darkness between earth and oblivion - but who are they, and what is their mission?

The people of the County live in fear of the beasts bent on bringing the war to their home. How can they possibly hope to survive when their fearsome enemies are fortified with the power of a god?

Could the creature that moves in the darkness be the saviour the County seeks?

An amazing book with brilliant plot twists. It continues the Starblade chronicles, with Tom Ward and his allies fighting the Kobalos army and their evil god, Talkus. Unlike previous books in both the Starblade and Wardstone chronicles, the narrator switches between Tom Ward and the witch assassin Grimalkin, who is dwelling in the dark following her death in the previous books. The plot of the Dark Assassin is unbelievable, with parts that will make you cry and cheer.

I would strongly recommend reading all of the Spooks books in order, as each story is intertwined with another, and each provides a solid foundation for the next to build upon.

I purchased this book from my school, during a speech by the author, Joseph Delaney. After I bought it, it was then signed by Joseph Delaney!

This is a part review, i plan to update this review when i have finished reading the book in it's entirety.

Firstly, i want to start off by saying that have never read any of the Spooks book series so i came into this book a little blind! However i want to state that i will be looking for the earlier books in the series as from what i've read so far (about half way through) the series looks very interesting.

Secondly, i want to say that the book has a dark presence which i can only presume stems from the earlier books in the series. This is the kind of book that you need to set yourself some time with, it really does become all encompassing and to appreciate it fully you need to immerse yourself in the story. I recommend taking the time to get to grips with this book.

So far i'm really enjoying it and i will update my review when i've finished reading.

It's a great book but it gets a bit confusing if you haven't read the previous books.

I'm only giving g 3 stars as I found the book hard to get into too. The book is part of a series so maybe you need to read the other books first to know what's happening.

There is a useful glossary at the back of the book. Some parts of the book are a little scary.
The front cover made me want to read the book it looked cool!

This is the third book in the series and my son had trouble working out some of the plot as he had not read the previous books. He said he was enjoying reading it but thinks it would be better to start off with book one so has only part finished reading this one.

I found the book very hard to get into too. This is  book 3 and part of a series so perhaps I need to read the other books first to understand it better.

I didn't actually finish it as I found it a bit confusing maybe I need to be a bit older.

There is a glossary in the back.

I really like the cover of the book. It looks really interesting. Its not the sort of book I would normally choose to read but it was ok. A little hard to get into and I lost my way a few times throughout. I think this is one in a series of books and its the first one i have read. It's probably better suited to someone older than me. I think I will put it aside and try and read again in the future.

The book was good but I didn't read the first books in the series so got a little but lost with the plot. It was great for my age range though.
