This book is the third book in the series. Magpie tries to blackmail Murph so that he could join his side by making the Super Zeroes fail every mission. This was difficult to deduce because of the time jumps. Eventually, Kid Normal and the rest of the Super Zeroes are kicked of the Heroes Alliance. Meanwhile, Magpie creates an alliance of villains and working with Nektar’s henchman Nicholas Knox (Nektar was a wasp-man villain whom Kid Normal faced in the first book), each helping each other build the Shadow Machine, a device that gives anyone who enters it one of Magpie’s numerous capes. Mary, Murph’s friend, finds out that Murph is on Magpie’s side and with the rest of the Super Zeroes, follows Murph to Magpie’s base. There, Murph uses the Shadow Machine to his advantage and returns to the good side.

I would recommend this book for 8+, whether they have read the first two books in the series or not.

This is a great book. We haven't read the other books and so found it harder to get into the story at first. This is an action packed, fun book. I loved that they had to make work together as a team. The shadow machine is super awesome and my boy loved Angels power! I Murph is a boy with no powers being in a world of super heroes. Magpie is the supervillian who believes that a super hero with no powers is no super hero at all.
